Anyone know of a good (hopefully free) tool that will allow me to convert files from WMA to MP3? I've got LOTS of files that need to be converted, so hopefully something with batch processing...

Thanks

I used something called dbconverter or some such, I believe, to convert ALL my music files a while back. It's amazingly small and simple, and worked very fast. It also utilized all four of my CPU cores. It dedicated one conversion process to each core and showed the progress of each process. Was quite amazing. I'll see if I can't find it again.

dBpoweramp Music Converter is what I used. I'm pretty sure the software is just a free trial, but it did everything I wanted it to do for me. Here's a link where you can download it from them. As you can see, it's very powerful.

Just as a preview, here's a screenshot I took of the program as it was converting files for me before, along with the Task Manager so I could monitor CPU usage.

Maybe I spoke too soon...it doesn't like some of my wma files. What's odd is that these files show as 440 bitrate, didn't even know that was an option...

Actually it doesn't seem to like ANY of my wma files, bummer

Oh wow, it won't convert your WMA files?! That's really lame! :(

Nevermind I'm retarded - I didn't realize you had to download all the codecs separately and install them, figured they'd be included in the program installation.

I've got all the codecs now and I'm good, thanks for the tip on the program

I just reinstalled it to play around with some files, and just realized you have to install a few codecs, as well.

Glad it's working for you now! I thought it was a great find when I needed to convert so many of my files.
