SDA SRS 2 setup

I was wondering what you guys thought of a SDA SRS 2 setup that consisted of two sets of SRS 2 speakers in the front and rear. Would that mess up the SDA effect. Has anyone ever put two SDA SRS 2 right speakers together on one side and two Left channel speakers on the other. All of the speakers would have the same tweeters and mids. If that is possible what kind of amplification would I need. Thanks.

Try the rears with the IC installed, and removed. Let us know;)Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Is this for a quad stereo or surround sound setup?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

I was not sure if the SDA affect would be messed up if SDA speakers were pointed at each other from front to back. I also would be interested to know if putting the speakers next to each other, the two rights and two lefts together would give the soundstage a more dramatic sound stage. Has anyone tried this and since these are 4 ohms speakers what kind of amp. would I need to keep 4 speakers at 4 ohms. My amp says if I use 4 speakers it turns to 8 ohms instead of 4 ohms. I am using a SAE amp. Thanks.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Seems like overkill for rear speakers. I think you'd be better off with something like Monitor 7, RTA 11T, or something similar in the rear. As far as running two pair next to each other in the front, that is a No No. It would mess up your imaging.
You'd really need two amps to keep two pair of SRS2 happy, unless you can find a massive 4 channel amp that is 4 ohm stable. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -

Sure, there are many but none are cheap. Bryston, Parasound, Citation, Adcom, etc.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -

I am new to the SDA speaker effect so please bare with me. The LSI speakers are also 4 ohm, what kind of HT receiver can handle the 4 ohms on all speakers on a 5.1 system. I imagine the same would hold true for a SDA SRS system. I have a LSI center and could use it in a 5.1 system of SDA SRS 2 front and rears. Is that possible.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Besides the fact that running four SRS 2's would sound like **** for music, 4 SRS 2's would be torture on just about any receiver. You would either have a meltdown or go through tweeters frequently. You either need a external amp or would need to plunker down some big $$$$ on a receiver able to handle a load like that."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

o.k. it looks like the SDA SRS 2 are made for two channel music and that is what it should be used for. I don't want my music to sound like ****. No big deal. I have a good Polk HT setup I have been enjoying. I was hoping to incorporate the SDA SRS 2speakers into a HT but that doesn't seem to be a good idea. Hang on a second, maybe I misunderstood what you want to do. Do you want to use one set of SDA's in the front and one set in the rear or do you want to use 2 sets in the front and 2 sets in the rear. If just one set front and rear, you really won't have any sound issues, but you will need to use power amps as AVR's alone will not cut it. That said, using SDA's as rears is kind of a waste as that is just ambient info.Political Correctness'.........defined

SRS 2s will do a fine job at HT, you just don't need more than 1 set and as F1NUT said, using a second set for surround duty is REALLY unnecessary and a waste of a most excellent speaker system. I'd even venture to say that if set up properly using a set of SRS 2s as mains in HT would eliminate the need for a center channel, just go phantom and judge for yourself.

Maybe I was not clear. I have a set of SDA SRS 2 speakers. They are impressive. I may be able to purchase a second set. I know the speakers are 4 ohms. I also have a LSI center which is also 4 ohms. Now my options are buy the second set of SDA SRS 2 speakers and use them in the rear of my room. I can hook them up to my SAE amp and pre amp and listen to music. The SAE states on the back of the amp that for two speaker use it is 4 ohms but for 4 speaker hookup using the B channel also it turns into 8 ohms. Would this setup work for music or do I need another amp to keep both sets of speakers at 4 ohms and how would I do that. My other option would be to use the SDA SRS 2 speakers as my front mains in a home theater system along with my LSI center which is also 4 ohms. If I do that how can I keep all the speakers in a 5.1 HT set up at 4 ohms if I use let say a LSI 7 speaker for the rears. If I go that route I would not need the other set of SDA SRS speakers. These are just some options that are available to me and wondered if anyone else has tried similar set ups like the ones I am proposing. When I mentioned in my opening post about putting two right channnel SDA SRS 2 speakers together on one side of the room and two left channel speakers on the other side of the room I did not know if this type of speaker would be enhanced by doubling the same speaker. I guess that is not an option because it would ruin the effect but I thought I would ask. I hope this clears things up.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

If you use the speakers in A/B config, the same sound will come out from the speakers A and B, that would mess up with the stereo effect. Wouldnt make sense. Ofcourse you could also choose to send different signals to speakers A/B in this config (radio to A, CD to , but that wouldnt make much sense either.
The only way of using multiple speakers would be in a 5.1 or 7.1 setup, but that too would be an overkill, since the signals that the rear and side speakers get is frequency-limited. Since a lot of teh rear/side channels is non-localised sound, you should not be connecting the IC cable.
Your question is confusing because uinlike other people whose need would be clarity or better soundstage etc, your seems to be to utilise the max number of speakers. Just because 2 SRSs are good, doesnt mean that if you put 4 in there, it'll be better. Dont forget that the speakers are a tool to get you better sound, dont get fixated on the tool.
Have you considered one room dedicated to 2-channle, and one to home theater? That will let you utilise at least 2 pairs. All the best.

Yes, I think the two room setup may be the way to go or one room with two completely different set ups in it. I guess I have the old motorhead way of thinking that there is no substitute for cubic inches. You have showed me that is not the case in this situation. Are SDA speakers specifically built for a 2 channel experience or can a quad set up be made with other forms of SDA speakers such as a SDA 1c. I think I am confused because if you had the SRS front and SRS rears placed identical in the room, wouldn't the sweet spot be directly in the center of the room for a quad speaker setup using your a and b functions on your amp. I have looked at Polk referance material and the optimum lessoning position is directly in the middle of the placement of the speakers. So if your fronts are 10 ft apart and your rears are 10 ft. apart positioned directly behind you then wouldn't all SRS speaker sweet spots converge in the middle of the room where you are sitting. Again maybe this is not the intended use of these speakers but I was wondering if anyone ever tried this out before. If you had a quad receiver your setup of front and rear speakers would work, but it would be a waste of the rear speakers.
lets talk about the setup with a regular 2 channel. Lets say you have a guitar at your extreme right- if you had only 1 set of speakers that exactly where it would come from. Once you throw in the rears as well (A/B setup), teh guitar woudl now coem from front right and also rear right. Since we are more sensitive to sounds from teh front than from the rear, the direction of teh guitars woudl be very diffuse (i would suspect, I have never tried this configuration).
Basically, what I'm saying is that if you have a receiver/processor that is intelligent enuff to understand teh 4 speaker config, only then would the setup work- but it would be a waste of teh rear speakers.
So you should go for teh different rooms setup (which is why the A/B option was given in teh first place). Put your second pair of SRS in another room (mine for example ) -
I see what you are saying. I will keep them as my 2 channel stereo system. I have to keep reminding myself that this is pre HT. I just get a kick out of these speakers and I thought the more the better. I have to pretend I am back in college in the late 80's. Yeah I will fire up the Kenwood 9600 with these monsters and rock the house. My wife says it sounds like AC/DC is playing downstairs. I say if its too loud your too old.
