Silicon and bass

I recently made my own sealed subwoofer box for my car. I finished the seal by applying a LOT of silicon to the seams inside. I purposely put a lot of silicon to make sure it was completely air tight. But I have a new concern, can silicon "absorb" bass? If I cut or scraped some of it out will that increase the bass? Thanks for your help!

If it doesn't absorb water, it doesn't absorb air. SHOULDN'T absorb bass.

Seeing as how you came into the home audio forum for this car audio question, you have to take what you get...

First off, I agree with George. But lets put this theory to the test. Take the bass unit, while powered up and ready to rock and roll, strap an audio test disk to it (a ten pound steel weight plate will do just fine), throw it in a lake, let it soak for a few minutes and then crank that baby up! Then remove it from the water and let us know if it absorbed any water and bass.

Some guys just know how to take the ball and run with it. Bob, didn't we strap some lead or steel to something once, and throw it off a bridge?

    G.,

Yeah, I think we solved a problem with an EQ using the slate isolation platform/bridge theory.

Funny, but slate is a proven isolator, granite better yet, according to Ken S. sandstone is just as good. As well as agreed by many on the forum.

Didn't know we had a problem Bob.? Here I was going to be stupid enough to ask if you wanted 2-30 foot runs of AQ at NC, but you pay shipping. Being as Wes already had some and didn't need it. O-well no skin off my back.

    Chris,

Who the hell rattled your cage?

Who was talking to you, about you, or talking about anything at all to do with you?

NOBODY on this green earth has to inform me that slate and granite are good isolators. And, NEVER in my life did I ever suggest otherwise!

Where on earth did your post come from?

If you don't know what G. and I are talking about...ASK US!!! Don't just get rude with me!

I CAN be just as rude as the next guy if you give me cause to be.
