Loudspeakers - Totem Arro & Staff

I'm the original owner for all the Totem loudspeakers, and the second owner on the KEF iQ9. I've been knee deep in Totem loudspeakers for the last 6 months to find out what I liked. They're awesome but in hindsight....I want more and the Totem Wind has really caught my eye.
All these speakers were formally purchased in November 2008 and have very low mileage. The Totems probably have 100-125 hours on them. If you have any issues in regards to warranty, just let me know.
Totem Arro - Floorstander - Mahogany - 9/10 - *SOLD*
Here's some information from Totem:
"It's our slimmest floor standing speaker, with a 4.5" sandwich cone woofer with dual magnet, and a soft dome tweeter tuned for low resonant frequency.
The Arro brings Totem quality to smaller rooms and smaller budgets. Yet it performs like a champion, as its narrow cabinet has the rigidity of an expensive stand.
It has the firm monocoque chassis you expect from Totem, with interlocked mitred joints, and unique borosilicate damping.
It also has a hard-wired crossover network with bypassed oil capacitors, and it can be bi-wired."
Specifications:
Optional "Beak" tuning pod
Borosilicate damping
Vertical crossbars for extreme rigidity and increased cabinet damping
Aesthetic and acoustical finish
Twin pair gold-plated terminals
No-compromise drivers, wiring and crossover parts
Dimensions: H 850 x W 133 x D 175 mm (33.5 x 5.13 x 6.75" approx.)
Crossover: 2.4 kHz second order optimised Linkwitz-Reiley
Impedance: 4 ohms
Frequency response: 40 Hz to 20 kHz ±3 dB with proper positioning
Sensitivity: 86 dB/W/m
Maximum sound level: 103 dB from a pair at 2 m in average room
Maximum power: 80 watts program material
2004 Arro Review
Includes: Original everything.
Totem Staff - Floorstander - Cherry - 9/10 - *SOLD*
Here's some information from Totem:
"Uncompromising design engineering, micro-attention to every detail, lengthy critical listening tests -- the attributes long associated with all Totem products -- have resulted in a mini-tower worthy of the Totem nomenclature.
Internally, the cabinet is built with two crossbars set at slightly different angles. One has only to listen in order to be convinced of their resulting success.
The cabinet joints use a unique lock mitre system.
The cabinet is finished with four different veneers: cherry, mahogany, maple and black ash.
The standard added plinth with four spikes can be mounted by our specialists, although optional, using the unique Totem “Claw” with ball bearing to floor system will give even better results.
Bi-wireable through solid gold-plated binding posts. The cross-over uses sophisticated oil capacitors and teflon isolated wiring."
Specifications:
Optional "Beak" tuning pot
Hardwired crossover
Borosilicate damping
Silvered OFC wiring
Dimensions: H 900 x W 160 x D 240 mm (36 x 8.3 x 9.5 in. approximately)
Volume: 20 litres (internal)
Weight: 14 kg (30 lbs. approx.) -Each
Crossover point: 2.2 kHz electrical and mechanical
Impedance: 8 ohms
Frequency response: 39 Hz to 22 kHz ±3 dB
Sensitivity: 87 dB/W/m
Minimum power: 20 watts at 8 ohms
Maximum power: 100 watts
Includes: Original everything.
Totem Rainmaker - Bookshelf - 9/10 - Mahogany - *SOLD* to Jstas
Here's some information from Totem:
"The Rainmaker was conceived as a transducer capable of great compatibility with most electronics, including lower-cost solid state and tube integrates.
Internally, its crossover system and wiring are as expensive and as carefully matched and chosen as that of any other product we make.
Our exclusively designed aluminum dome tweeter and quick, solid cast frame woofer will reward anyone dubious of the Rainmaker's attributes towards all music genres. In and outside it has been veneered with the highest quality veneer; four finishes are available: cherry, mahogany, maple and black ash.
Variable MDF using lock mitre cabinet joints. Bi-wireable through two pairs of solid gold-plated binding posts. The Rainmaker uses no-compromise drivers, wiring and crossover parts."
Specifications:
Dimensions: W173 x H355 x D230mm
Impedance: 4 Ohm
Frequency response: 42Hz - 20KHz ± 3dB
Sensitivity: 87.5dB/W/meter
Maximum power: 100 Watt
2004 Rainmaker Review
Includes: Original everything.
KEF iQ9 Loudspeaker - Floorstander - Black Ash - 9/10 - *SOLD* to Jstas
The new model is called the iQ90 and aside from hitting a few hz lower, it's identical to the iQ9 listed here. I would save the money and get these in lieu of the newer model as you would be hard pressed to ever hear the difference. The only NEW comment from the KEF website is "New horn profile, improves coupling to MF cone". I believe they are referring to the waveguide for the tweeter array which does appear pretty cool but I haven't heard it in person.
Here's some information from the KEF website:
"The iQ90 exemplifies everything that makes the new Q Series great. It’s a bass reflex design based on pairing KEF’s latest and most sophisticated Uni-Q array with powerful new generation bass drivers in an elegantly curved cabinet that’s designed to maximise cabinet stiffness and minimise internal reflections. The 165mm (6.5in) Uni-Q driver reproduces the nuances of the human voice with subtlety and real depth. Midrange response is fluid, perfectly time-aligned with the high frequencies and evenly delivered over an exceptionally wide area.
As you would expect from low distortion motors driving dual composite cones, the two 165mm (6.5in) low frequency drivers of the iQ90 deliver lavish bass, consummately controlled and with KEF’s new ‘labyrinth’ damping system, none of the accompanying distortion that so often impairs tall speakers.
As front speakers for high-end home theatre or as a stereo pair, the iQ90 has gratifyingly precise 3D imaging, breathtaking dynamics and real depth to the performance. As with the other iQ Series floorstanders, a discreet plinth is provided for even greater stability."
Specifications:
Drive Units 2 x 165mm (6.5in.) LF, 165mm (6.5in.) Uni-Q, 19mm (0.75in.) aluminium dome HF
Crossover Frequencies 180Hz - 2.5kHz
Sensitivity (2.83V/1m) 91dB
Maximum Output 113dB
Input Impedance 8 Ohms
Amplifier Requirements 15-200W

Frequency range 33Hz - 40kHz
Plinth Dimensions (H x W) 28 x 288 x 348 mm (1.1 x 11.3 x 13.7 in.)
Weight 16.6kg (36.6lbs)
Dimensions (H x W x D) 942 x 220 x 327 mm (37 x 8.7 x 12.9 in.)

God, Mark . . . where were you a year ago with all this Totem gear. I've heard all the Totem speakers now except the Shamans and they are all amazing! I'm tempted to pick up that Staff.
-
awesome collection there, Mark. Where is Sean? I would think he would be all over these. Good luck with the sale, chief.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
-
SS - I was probably playing with some Spendors and Usher. I've had some of these in house before but never the time to sit down religously. I'd really like to hear the Shamans as well.
Polkatese - I'm pretty sure he's heard all of these if not owned them without telling. He's a Totem nut. Thanks.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

DOROKUSAI, how do those Totem bookshelf speakers compare to the LSI 7's & 9's ?

DOROKUSAI, how do those Totem bookshelf speakers compare to the LSI 7's & 9's ?
I've listened to everyone of the Totems Mark is selling. Their sonic character is very unique and musical. The build quality is the antique kind that appreciates with age.
I've owned the Lsi7s and Lsi15s and heard the 9s. Polk speakers are very versatile but not as sophisticated and refined as Totems.
Honestly, when I first heard the Totem rainmakers, I was stunned by their top to bottom presentation. The tone was unbelievable. The speakers may not be sonically realistic, but that's not what Totem goes for. Totem produces soundscapes that are dreamy and warms your insides like getting drunk on fine wine. -
That's a pretty good summary, thanks Mike.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
