Ok.. i didn't quite expect this today.. but the holiday shopping season is in full swing. I drove by a Toys R' Us store.. the parking lot was FULL! A block away, Wal Mart was nearly full. Lines in every checkout lane.

And...

The local radio station today started playing Christmas music NONSTOP!.. they do that until Christmas day. So Christmas songs for the next 6 weeks!!

I predict this is going to be a record year for retail sales. mark my word, after everything is tallied up, stores will find themselves in the black. :)
PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Yeah I was out ru nning errands today and it felt like black Friday with all the traffic near the shopping areas. Crazy.

We had at least one local station switch to all-Christmas back on November 9.

Seriously, I love the Christmas season, why do people have to ruin it by making it last for a LITERAL season?!
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I don't think it's "ruining" the Christmas season - I think with the way the economy is, we need a longer Christmas season!!

    Just my opinion...

    ????
I don't think Americans need to go further into debt. We need to go back to
banking 10% and spending 90% instead of 1%/99% which is the current
    trend. Bah, humbug!

Ditto. Saw the same thing today while I was out getting my wife a birthday present. People were behaving as if there was no recession. Nice weather and major sales probably got folks out of the house.

Yup...got gas at a station that had a view of the Gilroy outlets....parking lot was full to the back....people are sheep...or maybe like lemmings in this instance....you would never guess anything was wrong with the economy around here. Maybe the lower gas prices fooled them into thinking they could spend more on gifts

Christmas for anyone with half a brain is the season it is because it is fleeting, and because it comes once a year. When it lasts for more than TWO MONTHS, it is most certainly diluted. Listening to Christmas songs for two weeks is fine; listening to them for two months would make anyone want to tear their hair out. Seeing Christmas decorations for most of December gives you the warm and fuzzies. Seeing them on Halloween just means you don't even NOTICE them anymore when Christmas really rolls around.

There's an old saying or theory that one type of hell is a casino where you never lose. It takes the fun out of anything special when it becomes the norm. IF it's Christmas all year, then Christmas is just another stupid day.

Christmas is really about the celebration of the Child of Bethlehem.

    Well said--I agree.
I always knew the Christmas season to start essentially after Turkey Day-Black Friday. Not before Halloween!

And yes a radio station in my area WMGK(?) started playing Christmas music all the time. I reserve my Christmas music listening to right around Christmas (and when its forced on me in the stores).

I can see that. More than 2 months of the Christmas season is too much.

However, I was saying that it's good for the economy, especially today.
