Does anyone remember those old video discs which had an arm and stylus like a turntable? The needle sat in the groove on them. Just wondering, does anyone know how they worked or even remember them? They came out in the early to mid 80's.

    No, Really,
The arm tracked in a groove which I believe had the soundtrack and the video was picked up somehow. I don't know how. Pretty cheesy though.

I think I found one. Might be worth $10 to take one apart!

yes..I think RCA came up with that format..We use to sell them when I worked at Zenith in the early 80's..real pieces of crap..one meorable moment was watching a tech try to fix a color problem on one and was using The WIzard Of Oz as a test disc...the beginning being black and white then changing to color was causing him fits (p.s - He was from Europe and never saw Wizard of Oz so he didnt know the beginning was suppose to be in B&W)

Do you have any idea how they read the video signal? Certainly not through a needle?

Hey, I grew up w/ a B&W TV, so I never knew "Wizard of Oz" shifted gears in Munchkinland.

First time I saw it on a color TV, I had turned it on mid-movie, thought Ted Turner had got his colorizing mitts on it and turned it off.
    More later,
