building enclosures for my rc80i - question

Hey guys I'm building enclosures for my rc80is that are going in my attic. My question is to I need a breathing hole in the enclosure? All my boxed speakers have breathe holes so I don't know - The pre-made enclosures I've seen online don't seem to have holes. There will be blown in insulation in my attic so if I need the holes I will have to figure out how to keep them clear.

    No holes needed, especially since it sounds like you're mounting them in the walls.

    Just wondering - are you designing the boxes to be a specific volume, like to replicate the pre-made enclosure volume or a recommended volume from Polk? There may be an ideal volume for the enclosures.

    For my parents' house, I built enclosures into their ceiling, caulked the enclosure joints, and used Polyfill per the Polyfill volume recommendations. This was done during the construction of their house, so I was also able to use extra screws into the drywall to firm-up the drywall attachment to the perimeter of the enclosure framing. Not sure if any of this had a significant impact on the sound, but it gave some piece of mind.

    2.0 ch Living Room: Rotel RX-1052/Emotiva DC-1/Klipsch RF-7 III/Sony ES BDP/LG 65" LED.
    2.0 ch Semi-portable: Klipsch Powergate/NHT SB3/Chromecast Audio.

    Looks like these are designed for infinite baffle tuning with a wall cavity as the enclosure. Polk may have an enclosure box volume reco though, if you contact them.
