I am going with the Dayton parts from Parts Express. I need help to make sure I order the correct parts. I think I need:

SDA 2B
12uF capacitor = $8.87 each sku 027-246
20uF capacitor = $12.85 each sku 027-252
40uF capacitor = $22.07 each sku 027-260
2.7 ohm resistor
.4mH inductor
1.25mH inductor
2.5mH inductor
16mH inductor

I think I need (1) per speaker. What do you think? Am I going to order the correct parts? Also, do I need anything else? Maybe a resistor?
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That looks right to me.I dont think parts express has mills 2.7 ohm resisters though. They do have dayton ones but I have not heard of anyone here that has used the dayton resistors. Why new inductors???Cut those costs and go with sonicaps. At least on the high pass..

Leave the inductors alone, they're fine.

IIRC, except for cheap ceramics, Parts Express does not sell 2.7 ohm resistors. You'll have to order Mills from Sonic Craft or Mundorf from Madisound.

I agree with the above also, I would use a Sonic Cap for the 12uf value. For the 20uf and 40uf, Dayton are more than fine.

    Again, leave the inductors alone.

Put your money towards better caps and Mills resistors. In fact, if yours have the pin/blade IC, you should do the 4.1TL upgrade.

I have the blade/blade style. Where can I order the Sonic Cap 12uF? Might sound like a silly question, but I have never done this before.
Thanks for all the quick advice! You guys are a great help.

Get everything you need at www.soniccraft.com

The Sonicaps are also excellent shunt caps, those are the 20 & 40.

Remove the stock 750pF bypass and don't replace it.

It's not a bad upgrade if you have some soldering skills. Just make sure you do one at a time so that you always are able to reference the original.

When did PE stop carrying Mills??

    http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=005-2.5

This will work just fine in place of the 2.7 ohm stock resistor

Another alternative is Clarity Caps from www.madisound.com

P.s. They did go up in price. I used to pay $2.50 a/pc

I agree. That resistor is fine. The connectors have been going up in price too:(

    2 more questions:
    1. Can I use the Dayton 40uF capacitor sku 027-442 instead? It is only $10.24 instead of the other one I mentioned above that cost $22.07? I could save a little cash there.

    2. I guess I need to buy 2 of each of all the capacitors and 2 of the resistors to do 1 pair of speakers?

Also, I'll leave the inductors alone as some of you stated.

PE still carries Mills as I've done a few recent projects with them. They would be stupid to drop that line as their only other "audio grade" resistor is the sandblock Dayton...

What happens when you remove the stock 750pF bypass and don't replace it?
Does it help get better bass response?

Bypass caps are a poor man's excuse for using cheap parts. They shouldn't exist to start with. We're not filtering a power supply, we're trying to build a consistent crossover.

It like how you put that. It was very direct and a little mean... But the simple fact is that with a high quality main cap, a bypass cap is pointless in a speaker crossover.
