Sound system by Lexicon? Now that's cool!

http://www.hyundaigenesis.com/

Anyone would test drive one?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I will most likely test one out, although I'm not going to buy one. What is it exactly, a 5-series alternative for lot less?

It means that the car is positioned to the value-conscious crowd of the BMW 5 series prospects.

wait, I might misunderstood your question, rhetorical? if so, you nailed it.

They sure stole a lot of design cues from the 5-series. Especially that trunk!
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

That is a huge move for them to partner with Lexicon! Is there any car companies that uses Polk OEM in their higher end lines? Jaguar uses B&W :D, Aston Martin uses Bang & Olufsen, and too many car companies use Bose...

Yes, I was asking what market segment it falls into and based on the price I figured 5-series. Didn't look for the dimensions and other specs. The TV ads make it seem like it is even for the higher segment, 7- and S-series, but Huyndai would be foolish to even try that yet. Huyndai has always fallen short in the driving enjoyment category IMO, hopefully they have emphasized handling of the vehicle more than they have in the past.

The test drive guy from Cars.com can't find anything to **** about the car. Was it genuine or staged? If they reduce the price by $10k, now we are talking...

I have a couple friends who have been buying Hyundai religiously for the last 8-10 years.

They generally beat anything from GM, Ford, etc. by far and come to about 80% of a Honda/Toyota.

That one there looks cool, but the one in the link in the first post...boring! Of course I think most BMW's lack style and are quite boring looking as well.

That what they used to say about Toymotor.
Now it's the car that sets the pace. Hyundai has done
everything they have to to become a premium brand.
Quality has jumped leaps and bounds. They have improved
the visual and performance side of their cars. In 5 years
Toyota might have to play catch up to them. I think GM should
be taking notes on these guys instead of the Japanese.

Back in my college year, I was looking at the Toyota Tercel, Nissan Sentra, and Hyundai Excel, and thought of the Excel as problematic, and picked Tercel.

Time has changed and look at where they are now.

Checkout the comments on the Audio/Lexicon system on the Genesis:

impressive. that's all I can say.

Car and Driver magazine tested this car last month. It was a pretty favorable review. More of a luxo cruiser than sporty, but nice, nonetheless. Hyundai has certainly come a long way.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Wow, the four door version posted in the first post looks JUST like an Infiniti with a BMW deck lid and some stupid, bland grill.

Hmm, on second thought, the overall body shape looks a LOT like an Infiniti. The front grill and headlights look like a Maybach, and the deck lid and tail lights look like the new Lexus'.

    I agree, rather boring.

Per their website it has "Symmetrical Drive." Some sort of all wheel drive system.

They have quite a few comparisons listed on their website for skid-holding g's, 0-60 runs, and 70-0 runs.

Says RWD for both the v6 and v8 on their website.....

    A 375-horsepower 4.6L V8
Front engine rear wheel drive platform
    Audiophile sound system by Lexicon®
    Features that redefine luxury
    Exceptional braking power

And even when the coupe is released after the sedan...it will be rear wheel drive as well...

" A rear wheel drive sports car from Hyundai, dubbed Hyundai Genesis Coupe and sharing the Genesis Sedan's platform and name, was unveiled at the 2008 New York International Auto Show. "

Wow, you're right. It does list them both as being RWD. Then what the heck is this "Symmetrical Drive" crap? Are they doing like Infiniti (or was it Lexus?) and trumpeting the amazing goodness of a differential...like EVERY car has had for forEVER....??

A: I drive a hybrid of Bimmer, Benz, and Lexus. It's called Genesis, best of the breed car.
