How about a new NASCAR

One where they go back to running REAL cars. GM, Ford, Chrysler
running ther mid size FWD cars around the track flat out for 500 miles.
Some of the toughest Detroit drivetrains came from racing. Make it
a limit of 2.5L 4 banger. That would spur some real design changes.
None of those dixie cup transaxles that crap out at 90k. Motors that
perform and get gas milage. Add Toyotas and Nissans too after two
years. Race on Sunday, sell on Monday was for real back in the 60's.

Yeah, I know. Stupid idea. FAbbing up make believe cars on custom
tube frame with carb engines is sooo much better. But I can dream.

I have even a better idea, how about all new sports players, for every sport. Most are all over-paid, drugged up, meat heads. Replace them all with real sports players, and don't wear ****-pads of any kind, be a man, shirt, pants and shoes is all they need.

Point is, how to improve a product. Racing doesn't place nice. Stuff breaks,
your team loses. You go back and improve the stuff that breaks. Then
build that car for the street. Screw the crappy IPOD docks. How about
building tougher cars? Put in real wiring and a place for easy aftermarket
stereo mounting. Easy DIY maintenace. Common parts so junk yard
starters, engines, etc. can be re-used. Interior panels that come out with
screws, so that you don't break everything getting to a window motor
or pulling a trim strip. A guy that's handy should be able to self maintain
a vehicle for 10 or 12 years. Not have everything crap out a month after
    it's paid for. I don't need a 100k warranty. I need a car that doesn't
fall apart in a 100k. How about a 4 cylinder version of the Chevy smallblock?
GM has no modern equivalent. Tough, easy to work on, you maintain it,
it doesn't break. Or the classic 225 slant 6? that was good for big miles.
Like I said, silly me. We all really want more cupholders.

I completely agree with the idea, but not the 4 cylinder engine. Original NASCAR didn't run 4 bangers; they were running 6 pack 440s and cobra jet 428s! Let's bring it back so that the car you run has to be a production car (with only safety mods and a few others). Let auto makers run their biggest and best production cars against each other, and let's see who wins. Not only will it be the best advertising possible like in the old days, but you can take back some pride in your American car and auto maker.

    Ding! Ding! Ding!
We have a winner. That would get the auto makers putting the wheel to the grindstone!

Now what would make a NASCAR race worth watching would be to start half the field going counterclockwise around the track and the other half going clockwise. That would make some exciting raceing. I miss the old figure 8 dirt track races from my younger days. Those were a blast.

I agree, When F1 cars come past the sound is just amazing. IRL has a similar sound.

Although Nascar has its own sound. More of a baritone to the F1 Alto.

Nascar should dump this lemon of a new car and try to build something that actually resembles a normal car. I know it is safer but geez the thing handles like an old Matador compared to the last gen car.

By the way they do have a couple of road corses in Nascar. Sonoma CA and Watkins Glen NY. WG is my favorite track along with Charlotte.

I think a good shake up would be had if they even opened up the tire sponsorship side away from those **** Goodyears. If you can't tell I don't like Goodyear tires. Probably why they aren't in F1 Cart or IRL...

I want racing to improve cars most of us drive. A large 4 banger or 6
would be the motor to find it's way into our daily drivers. I want
my Ford or Chevy to have a 300 HP durable small motor that
would survive heaping amounts of abuse. I want a suspension and
brakes that would handle the track. They already know how to build the
big v8's for racing. It's called a Vette. I want a real world $30k car
that would run, handle and stop. It's done by backyard mechanics with
ricers. Why not by the factory?

Y'all have just hit a nerve! I love NASCAR but the organization of NASCAR is killing itself.

First off and most importantly is this STUPID F**KING car of tomorrow. Its the dumbest thing Ive ever seen and its killing racing! Theyre so big and cut up so much turbulence behind them that you cant pass with them so you get what we've had all season long. Somebody leads 365 of 400 laps and wins. Whoopy. This has been the most boring season Ive ever seen.

Next is them censoring the drivers. The drivers were told flat out - "no more complaining to the media". All they want the drivers to do in interviews is thank the sponsors, thank the crew and take lots of sips of their Coke. Again. Whoopy. No more attitudes or **** talking. My boy Tony Stewart was the last one and when he called BS on all these "debris cautions" they hauled him in front of the chicken **** brass and before you know it he was house broken.

Then you have Toyota coming on and just dominating in the Nationwide Series so what do they do? Force Toyota to knock 20 or so horsepower out of their engines. What BS!!

What NASCAR needs is what the owners in F1 recently did - form a union. Mike Helton and Brian France think theyre gods sitting up in their offices but Im here to tell ya, NASCAR is huge because of the 43 drivers every Sunday out on the track. Nobody is tuning in to watch Mike Helton's stupid ****. I dont understand why all the drivers dont get together and go up to these dipsticks and say "you know what? There is going to be some changes around here". All major sports have players unions but NASCAR and because of it youve got 2 complete **** thinking theyre God himself.

NASCAR should forget about appealing to fraternity boys and housewives - cater to the fans that supported NASCAR and got it to where it is now. So what if its perceived as a "good old boys" sport? Not every sport will appeal to everybody.

Brian France needs to fire that boob Mike Helton, hire Richard Petty in his place, let the drivers be themselves and **** and fight and cuss all they want to and lets get this sport back to what its supposed to be - good old fashioned American stock car racing born of moonshiners!!

    Where's the Tylenol?

You just about summed it up there perfect....they just sanitized it to the point that my dogs find it too boring to sit and watch and they walk away shaking their head.

Not only did they screw the Nationwide Toyotas by forcing them to cut back on horsepower even though they were perfectly within the same damn rulebook as the others...total ****.

Now, at the same time in the Cup series the Toyotas were dominating as well...Kyle Busch is the best talented driver in the field and had the best equipment ( So he is a personality deficient total **** of a person....he still has the skills as a pure driver ) and was kicking the **** out of everybody on the track ....all of a sudden close to the same time they neutered the Nationwide cars...he starts getting passed coming off corners by Jimmie Johnson...which hadnt happened all year up until this point....and then it was downhill for all the Toyotas after that point in the year ....they neutered the Cup Toyotas as well...they just didnt publish the fact.

Toyota ( And not just one Toyota driver either....Hamlin and Stewart and everybody else were too ) was spanking them legally within their own rulebookall year long up until that point.....and they couldnt let that happen....now Jimmie Johnson...who was a 4th...5th place scrap all year prior...is now sitting to win the Cup because of the chase point system.

Truely sad they stayed within the rulebook ....beat the other manufacturers at their own game....and then get knocked down like that...officially in Nationwide and in stealth mode in Cup.

And Stewart is my wifes fav as well....you know damn well he isnt refusing to be interviewed like they always say he does now....you cant shut that boy up and they just dont want him dogging Goodyear anymore ( Who couldnt make a good tire if their life depended on it ) ....who has an excuse at every track why their tires performed so poorly.....what a sad year.

Yeah, Kyle got a bad shake in the beginning of the chase. I really like the chase and support it because it makes the whole season interesting as each race counts (except for this ho-hum season). But it also shows the downside - 2 bad races and youre done.

The secret to Johnson winning his 3rd is 2 things. 1- a drop of rain falls so they cancel qualifying and give Johnson the pole 3 or 4 times! And since nobody can pass in this car, he wins them all. And secondly, Chad Knaus is a freaking genius. This guy could even get Michael Waltrip into Victory Lane! Knaus is the one instance where I credit the crew chief rather than the driver for the success.

I read today that theyre calling off practice next year. This will make things better. It costs these teams a ton to practice so teams that are pooping money like Hendricks can practice til the cows come home where the little guys are out in the cold. This will help make things a little more competitive.
