Found dead in a hotel room at the age of 61, from what looks like natural causes.

While he was overshadowed in the Experience by Jimi's talents, he was a damn fine drummer in his own right.

RIP Mitch, hopefully this message finds you riding the cymbals somewhere with Jimi in front of you once again.

Damn.....................my 2nd favorite drummer behind Bonzo. It seems strange that Mitch never really did anything before or after The Experience. I have about 100+ Hendrix bootlegs and all of the official live shows and Mitch was unmatched at the time of following Jimi during all his meanderings and meandering himself.

He always played so close to the edge and then would bring it back full circle. Several times he fell clean off the egde too-LOL.

A superb and at most times very unconventional percussionist. Almost played in a Jazz Fusion style. A great foil and match all at the same for Hendrix's style of playing. Because Noel Redding was so solid with his bass lines it really allowed Mitch to "explore". Redding was the foundation that allowed both Hendrix and Mitchell to weave that "out of this world" landscape.

Many times Mitchell's drumming just amazed me.

    RIP

Reading all the stuff online, it occured to me that he was 20 years old when AYE? came out. He was 19 when he started playing with Hendrix. Here I thought I was having a good time when I was that age....

RIP John (Mitch) Mitchell. I heard about it this morning on Howard Stern. I actually sighed when I heard. To young to lose a great.

He was my alltime favorite. Followed by Gonzo and Moon.

I realized it later but it was too late to edit. I figured hell with it let them flame me.

It is more fun that way.

PS I loke Gonzo more the Emo (I mean Elmo).

Yeah, the no edit thing does suck a bit sometimes.

I was just giving you a hard time, I do the same thing too.

Elmo's too new school for me, but I'd roll with Snuffleupagus.

Man, that would be some party with those three: chickens, hot rods, and hand guns.
