sda-1c vs. sda srs 2

What are the differences with the SDA-1C and the SDA SRS 2 speakers. I believe the SRS speakers are 4 ohms, I am not sure what ohms the SDA 1C's are. Is there much difference in sound quality. The SRS speaker is rated at 750 and the SDA is 500 I believe. Does anyone have both sets of speakers and how would the sound quality compare. Is the SRS much of an upgrade over the SDA 1C.

From what I've heard, the SRS 2 has more bass. Otherwise, there's not a big difference between the two.

The SRS 2 have a 15" PR and the the drivers are further apart that offer a wider sound stage than the 1C's which have a 12" PR.

They are similar with the 1C's being slightly newer. The SRS 2's are formidable and as one recent member found out can overload a small room. They have the advantage of having a bit more cabinet volume and a 15" PR and are a bit more power hungry.

The 1C's integrate well in medium to medium small room and have the next to last generation of updates made to SDA's.

You can't.................I repeat can't go wrong with either of them. All things being equal the SRS 2's have the edge but once you start looking at gear, room, condition, and proximity to the seller the playing field becomes equal.

It wouldn't be worth the hassle, expense to ship a pair of SRS 2's across country if a pair of 1C's was available for local or short distance pick up is what I'm trying to say.

I bought 1As before I knew anything about SDAs, I then decided to try to turn them into something similar to 1Cs but changed my mind. I was waiting for some real 1Cs to come along when I got a deal on SRSIIs. To my old and untrained ear, they all sound great, even the 1As without any upgraded crossovers or tweeters! I don't want my Mon10s or 2Bs to go unmentioned and hurt their feelings either! If you can get either model for a decent price, I don't think you'll have any regrets. Good luck, Geoff:)

That's pretty much how I read it. I've had the 1Cs, 2Bs and CRS+ with a very short time with Luc's 1.2TLs. They all sound like SDAs...all great speakers. They scale to the size of your room and perhaps the big boys can be too much for some.

I've owned both,and as the gentlemen before me stated,,can't go wrong with either,,,and,, room size. If I had to choose,,it would be the SDA SRS 2's,, because of the bass,soundstage,,, and they do a littler better job than the 1C's as far as "disappearing". Good luck

I have 1C's but I could possibly be able to get the SDA SRS 2's. Is it possible to have the SRS 2's in the front and the 1C's in the rear. What kind of equipment could drive both pairs of speakers at the same time. Thanks.

Personally, and this is my opinion. It would be a waste of a good set of speakers. Unless you have an extremely large room I'm not sure you could take advantage of the SDA characteristics from the rear set. Plus you'd probably overload the room with that much speaker. Or if hardly any signal is going to the rears then they would be wasted.

I suppose if you had enough power and a giant room with lots of seating it could pass.

Yes, maybe you are right. It could be overkill. I am happy with my 1C's. I could put my monitor 7's or 10's for the rear. I plan on running the speakers on a Kenwood 9600 receiver which is 200 watts at 4 ohms. These speakers need 6 ohms. Would I be better to set the receiver at 4 ohms or 8 ohms. The Kenwood is 160 watts at 8 ohms. I have some Yamaha receivers which are 6 ohms. Would I be better served with one of those, the one I am thinking about is the RX-V2500 Yamaha receiver. I think it is 140 watts of power per channel. It is a 7.1 system. I think the Monitor 10's can handle 140 watts. I probably will not lesson to it at 140 watts unless I have a teenage flashback and want the police knocking on my door. The neighbors would not appreciate it. Thanks.

There's no switch on the Kenwood to change it to 4 ohms. Just simply hook up the speakers and you're ready to go.
