Question of the day! You're stuck in a snow storm, what car do you wanna be stuck in?

We're not talkin' this girly snow we get out here in the mid-Atlantic states or the dusting that shuts down a manly place like Texas. We're talkin' one of those North Dakota blizzards where the snow gets deep enough to bury moose testicles! One of those epic blizzards like in the movie Fargo where visibility is relative term and the temperature is so low that the snow blows like a dust storm.

So what would you want to be stuck in. Not necessarily stuck as in stuck on the side of the road buried in a snow bank stuck. More along the lines of what kinda car would you want to be driving if you found yourself in those conditions.

Me, I'd want a 4x4 mid-90's Ranger with a 4.0L V6, a suspension lift, good mud/snow tires and a cap over the bed. Inside the bed are a full set of snow chains, a couple sand bags near the tailgate and some camping gear like a cold weather sleeping bag, a small, propane heater with a 6 pack of lantern-sized bottles and some small pots for melting drinking water if necessary.

Some nice but not necessary options would be an extra fuel can, filled of course...with fuel and an aftermarket supercharger for that extra grunt to muscle through the snow.

I'd want a Ranger because they are, in my experience, as capable off-road as a Jeep but without all the uncivilizedness of a Jeep in cold weather. Plus they have plenty of room, especially in extended cab versions, to carry all the crap you might need to survive plus some luxuries like 2 extra spare tires and large trail jacks and such.

You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you!

myold jeep cherokee. 4.0 4x4 rest all stock. that thing got me through the blizzard of 96 with barely an effort. now if I had to actually be in a car and STUCK in the snow, well, then a Maybach would be the plush way to be stranded.

My 96 Intrepid has never let me down, even this one time when all highways were closed, going uphill, plowing through 18" of powder, with all season tires. Although that time it did send the tranny into limp mode and when I got it into the garage the engine bay was completely full of snow.

I would want to be in this in a snowstorm that bad. I could put a plow on the front and open up all lanes at one time. And anyone that I came across that was stuck or wrecked could just hop in the back. It's big enough back there to set up a few tents, light a fire to keep warm and make some smores.

Hummer H1 - Large enough to sleep in the back and when the storm quits, good enough to drive out of almost anything.....

Oh and george - You were on track with my first thought as well, until I thought about the fact that her version of what to do and my version of what to do would not only be dramatically different, I would have to hear about her version of what to do for HOURS over and over again. I will sit patiently by myself thank you. (ok, maybe with a book)

I like that choice. Especially if it has the rear facing seats in the bed with the handgrips.

    Love the custom plate! :)

    EDIT
Oh and I totally forgot about this deal. What happens when you combine a 427 engine with a custom dual-track home made monstrosity? Awesome happens.

I've had the pleasure of driving dozens of different vehicles in severe winter weather and the one that provided the most confidence was the 2nd gen Grand Cherokee w/4.7 V-8 and quadra-drive. Never felt safer. Went through the **** with little effort and the brakes responded superbly. Close second was a Subie.
