I've been seeing movies in both formats and don't know enough about the diff. to know which to choose, I do know that the THX is usally higher priced. Which one sounds better and gives better effects? Is there a diff.?
Thanks
Dave

THX is not a format, it is a set of standards only. Dolby Digital is a format for surround sound decoding. There is a huge debate on this forum and on just about every other forum on the internet as to the need for THX certified equipment in a home theater. A couple of areas that you might want to look at are WWW.THX.Com and the primer at HomeTheaterforum. Here's a link for ya.

I thought THX-EX was actually an encoding format similar to DD-EX and DTS-ES.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. - Albert Einstein -
THX Select, EX, Ultra, & Ultra2 are variations of the THX standards for Home Theaters. Click on the following link to go to the THX Home Theater FAQ.
