Any suggestions/recommendations that would closely match the original driver.

I've got a $20 bill in the unit, cabinet, amp, & grill are in good shape but the driver is quick to bottom out/pop.

Not looking to spend a lot on a replacement driver since this is not my primary sub.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Read this. The unvented servo enclosure cannot handle sustained lows from movies. You're going to have to get a new sub to replace it.:(

Not real sure on cab volume, need to do some research or call velodyne I guess.

    Budget? Cheaper the better;)

Though maybe some of the old dogs here had been down the same or similar road.

Take the driver out, and measure the L/W/H in inches. Let us know
    Ben
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Isn't F-series very similar to ULD series, except F-series is front-firing and ULD is down firing? If that's correct, then you will only be able to use the speaker from one of these subs - the speakers have a built-in acceleration/distortion sensor, without which the feedback in the amp won't function.

Regarding bottoming out in HT applications, at least in my ULD-15 there are adjustment resistors, which will let it be compliant even with current THX standard (the service manual explains which ones to change and which values to choose).

Good point, that could be problematic depending on how they implemented the servo.

Okay I pulled the driver and there is more than just speaker wire running to it.
Appears this complicates the situation and narrows down replacement driver choices.

    Thanks for the replies!

Yes it will likely have another pair of thin gauge wires with a connector that attaches to the driver for the accelerometer. You could hook up an old driver of some sort just to try and see if the amp will work without this accelerometer lead connected. If it is a closed loop feedback system then it won't without the correct driver.

It's worth a try, but I believe Velodyne said that the system may/will go into oscillation. The other thing about this series of subs, the speaker has to be completely seated and fully screwed into the enclosure. That's the only way it can be tested - otherwise, the system goes into oscillation.

Just remembered this! Velodyne's tech support checks this thread regularly on AVS forums. They are usually pretty helpful:

In my case (for ULD), Velodyne said that they do not support this series any more. However, they do offer a great discount on a new series of subs instead.

Since I really wanted to restore my ULD-15 (and I did restore it!), I had to wait until another speaker showed up on ebay. Took me a couple of months to find a replacement.

Call KURT at Velodyne.... Actually if you email him your home phone number, he'll call you during the evening. He hates email. LMAO
I dumped my velodyne Servo F1000X, 6 months ago, while it was still in perfect condition, You all should do the same with the older servo subs. Velodyne does not have any parts for replacement or repair and never will, according to Kurt

That's a pretty bold statement to make. I love the way ULD-15 sounds. In the music application, it seriously kicks **** compared to DD series subs.

The only parts, which are irreplaceable are the speaker itself and the acceleration sensor. If the sensor is a toast, you probably won't find one. Otherwise, all the parts inside the amplifier are standard electronic components with absolutely nothing special.

Here is one of the photos after the sub got rebuilt:
