If anyone is selling a Shengya, Kavent, or Vincent tube CD player, I might be interested depending upon the model. Please let me know. Thanks. Andy

I loved my ShengYa S10. I'm not really sure if the tubes actually did anything. They were more show and glow. I can't remember who it was here that had a technician look at the circuit and laugh, the tubes did nothing. Great sounding player don't get me wrong. Take the tubes out and see if it still plays??Carl

I have definitely noticed a difference in different tubes. I am currently running all GE tubes. These have tightened up the bass and have also mellowed the highs. For example, while I was using a Telefunken 12AX7, there was much detail. However, it was too bright. I then switched it to a GE and it was more to my taste, which is not too bright like the Telefunken. I also like the GE 6922 better than the RCA 6922 due to less noise and crisper bass. When I get more cash, I will be trying some more tubes such as a Seimens 6922 and a Bugle Boy 12AX7.

I just replaced the GE 12AX7 with an RCA 12AU7A cleartop, and I like how it tempered the brightness even more while still keeping the detail. The speakers I am using right now are Altec Lansing model 14's...horns and extremely efficient.

So far, the Mullard 12AX7 bests what I've tried so far in all areas.

Finally, I settled on using a Telefunken 12AX7 and a Mullard gold-pinned 7308. This CD player sounds really good.
