I had a good listen to the Usher V Series yesterday at Stephen's place, Quest for Sound. Spent time with the V-601, V-602 & V-604. I was equally impressed with all 3 to say the least. The only monitor in the series is the V-601 (I'm partial to monitors) & I found the sound to be very dynamic & reproduced voices with uncanny realism. The soundstage & imaging was hard to believe given it's price point of $700. My toes were tapping the whole time.
The V-602 (the smaller of the two FS) was also very engaging & offered up a soundstage that was very wide & engulfing. How Usher can offer so much performance along with gorgeous fit & finish is hard to fathom. The 602 served up more bass than the 601 but that's expected being a FS.
The V-604 (the largest of the FS) really brought the house down with it's performance. To me it was dead on a culmination of the 601 & 602 combined. Again Usher needs to be commended on there price/performance ratio.
If I had to choose...it would be a tough one. But since I'm partial to the monitors attributes & coupled with dual Velodyne SPL-122R subs, I think you know where I'm going with one!!!
The V-603 is the matching center which I didn't get my ears on yet. It was a fun day just popping in CD after CD & just relaxing & enjoying the music.

That's a very good question. I really wouldn't know unless I bring a pair home for a thorough A/B listening comparison. Something I might consider just for the heck of it. I'm really not in the market, but I must say that I am impressed with the Ushers. I know guys here like to change things up once in awhile so to have a different experience. Maybe I will."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up. -

The v-series Ushers have been discontinued for a while now. There are dealers that are blowing them out.
Usher is totally revamping there lineup. The only 6 series speaker left is the 6311's. I think they are going to be including the new be tweeter in more lines and thus renaming them.
Might want to contact this guy. I know Usher has region restrictions so I am not sure where he is located but he has been trying to get rid of these Ushers for some time now.

Hey Mike,
Nice hearing from you. Any info on the new lines they have coming out & when they'll be available. I really don't plan on replacing my AAD 2001 monitors, but then again you never know."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up. -
Actually, I just came back from my dealers place and my statements aren't totally accurate. There aren't more lines, however, they are expanding the Dancer series to include a new 2 way (3kish), and 3 way (5kish). They are both going to be floorstanders (sorry Phil) and cosmetically look like smaller versions of the other big Dancers.
I would just like to add that he has the big Be10's in his showroom and they just aren't my cup of tea. They are just too detailed for me...I think that it is the ceramic midrange. I guess I am a paper guy.
I prefered the Gamut L7's that he had before but he sold them to the Black Sand Cable guy.
Phil I do not think the v series would really be in the same league as your AAD....I think that would be asking too much from them given their price point. I think if you wanted to compare them with something in the Usher lineup you should look more towards the Be718's.

You're right that the V-601's aren't in the same league as my AAD's...but they were very enjoyable & just sounded right, they had me smiling & got my foot tapping. Setting price aside they were just fun listening too & caught my attention. Heck, if I do decide to bring a pair home & decide to keep them, I can turn a nice profit on the AAD's. Also, Stephen also has the Be-718 in the same room as the AAD's & the BE-718's... they just don't do it for me. The AAD's really are that good...maybe I'm just nuts!!!
Too bad the new models don't include any monitors. I never did get to listen to the Dancer series yet."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up. -
You have so....the be-718's.
When I bought my speakers I compared the be718's, 6311's as well as the 6381's. Of theses 3 speakers I liked the 6311's the best....in fact there weren't even really trade-offs in my eyes (ears). They just sounded right to me..more natural than the be718's and much more coherent than the 6381's.
I think the 6371's are also excellent speakers. My dealer did not have them but I have heard them somewhere else. I am not sure which I would have liked better but given that my dealer did not have them to compare I just thought that I did not need them given room size also they would be a little more difficult load for my tube amps....not to say they couldn't have handled it. I also felt that if I wanted to dig deeper I could try to integrate a sub into the system. Plus I liked the smaller size of the 6311's.
