I can't drive 55. RT55 vs RTi8's

Welp. It's 11pm and I'm jacked-up on coffee like a hoochie mama on crack.

The modded 55's are just GREAT even though the is a db issue between the speakers. Maybe since the 16uf cap was thashed, it thashed a driver. Maybe I got in a hurry and didn't wire them in series right. Nonetheless, they sound great loud or especially soft. Bass in the bookshelf is punchy and the mids are to my taste.

The RTi8's have more bass with the larger cabinet and are beautiful in cherry.
The problem I have is the top-end seems to be edited. It goes up there but a little is missing. The modded RTi6 board has a single .47uf cap whereas the RTi8 has (2) .22uf caps for the trim up top. Dunno whether series or parralel.

I'm betting that a single .47uf would open up the top and make it a little more spacious. Same boards BTW.

Anyway they both sound great, I prefer the old polk sound a little more. The RTi8 has plenty of bass for this room.

Back to Jammin. Seal next, then Stevie Ray, Humble PIe, Bonnie, Edie Brickhead, Collective Soul, Kenny Wang, and ringing ears!

    OK. So it's 2am. Say isn't that a 7 Mary song?

My ears are slightly ringing. Break Time.

Slid some old Cicago in between Edie Brickhead and Bonnie.

Man the Drums and horns come at ya now.

The Trilam, stainless/ aluminium vapor deposited soft poly tweeter (Man that's a mouthful) is the pinnacle of Mr Polks poly tweeter engineering.

I can understand how some folks didn't like it (stock mylar caps) but with the all MP's switch and the FF trim..... Smaaoooooth

PS db issue solved. These are hand matched woofers and a little issue with a series hookup of +-+-.

Time for some Bonnie, Kenny Wayne and Audiosalve.
