In Search Of The Perfect Head Unit...

ive been trying to look for the perfect head unit for my car, i cant seem to be satisfied with any of the head units i see, i own a sony head unit with an aux cable thing and its great because i can play the music from my ipod, but im not really satisfied because my ipod can run out of battery, the cable gets all over the place etc... i know there are cables to charge ur ipod but that would be too many cables, also ive seen the ipod ready head units and the usb ones, they seem good, but for some reason i hold back from buying one
what ive seen that people are starting to do is put like a sort of computer instead of a regular head unit, where can i find something like this? do i have to custom make it? is it expensive? because with that im not going to have to worry about cables or anything because all my music is going to be in the computer not on my ipod or other mp3's, even tho ive seen some people that still have the aux and usb cables just in case they need them...
anyways i was just wondering if you guys could help me out with this... i dont care if i have to modify my dashboard as long as im satisfied with what i got... or just recomend something that is working for u guys...;)

I dont know how much research you have done but Alpine to me is the bset and your delema about the aux input and your ipod running out of battery almost every head unit that is worth buy has a ipod direct connection so that way you dont mess with the volume on the ipod and you control the ipod threw the head unit and also it also charges the ipod as well. I have been using ipod ready head units for a while no and NO problems at all have I had. Alpine would be my pick this is the one I would get.
