I don't think there is a replacement. The RDO-194 replaces the SL2000 and the 198 the SL3000. You might want to ping Polk/CS and ask. Heck they may still carry the 2500.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO

Thanks Ron, I talked with Ken and he said the RD0198-1 was the replacement.

Just curious what others had experienced.

It's my understanding the RD0194-1 replaces the sl2000 and sl2500. The RD0198-1 replaces the sl3000.

Call Polk CS ask for Ken to know for sure or maybe someone who is 100% sure will chime in.

I'm 95% sure but I'm too lazy to search for the thread.

That was always my understanding. I enjoyed the upgrade to both the 194 and the 198 in my different speakers and think it is very much worth it.

Ok, originally spoke with Ken but called back to reconfirm and got Helen who is a very nice lady, Ken was on the phone and could not speak to him.

According to Polk, the RD0198-1 is the same Tweeter as the SL2500 but has the Voice Coil from the SL3000.

Anyway, I ordered them and will listen for the difference.

I believe it's for when people type with caps lock on, it will automatically reduce the text to lower case. More trouble than what it's worth IMO and it obviously doesn't work correctly all the time.

My member join date reflects when I came here, seeking replacement tweets for the sl2500's in my Monitor 5jr+.

I did call Ken to order the RD0198, and I found that the sonic improvement was not subtle in my 5jr+'s . They now are pulling duty in my RTA 11TL in place of the original SL3000. F1Nut's replacement list above is correct.

Sidenote: Jesse (F1Nut) was first to reply to my thread back in 2005 and he invited me to stick around. Still here!

    Cheers,

By my count, I've made roughly 16,000 fewer contributions to the family than you. A belated thanks for the 2005 welcome, though. This board is certainly better than most.

I'll stop with the thread hijack now. thsmith, do report back in with your impressions once you've burned in the new silks.

Received the RD0s yesterday and installed them, no issues.

Have about 6 hours time running them. Have not reran Audessy yet but initial listening thoughts were they are much warmer or less bright than the SL2500s but by the time I went to bed either they got brighter or I was getting use to them.

I thought the SL2500s were a little scratchy on stuff like the new AC DC CD. I tested the RDOs listening to the new AC DC and found the sound to be crisper and cleaner. Actually enjoyed the CD last night where previously I had not.

I will rerun Audessy this weekend and do some more listening but early indications are they are indeed an improvement.

Congrats with the new tweeters and I'm glad you are liking them. Suggested burn in time is 100 hours, so keep on trucking and they will continue to open up.

    [LOL]

So, is there a preferred method of burn in?

Like moving stuff to the garage and letting iTunes play through them for 6 days at X volume while on shuffle?

I just used my system, for me I did not notice any changes overtime, the RDO198s just sounded great since installing.

When I wasn't listening to them I ran a full range music CD in a loop at a moderate volume.
