I made an impulse buy -- I ordered the T-Mobile G1 with Google Android. I guess that makes me an early adopter.:p The phone arrived today. I set it up, but I'll need to play around with it much more extensively to learn the basic features. At $179, the price of the phone is relatively reasonable, but you gotta pay $25/month for unlimited email and Internet access.

So far, it's a very cool device.

I'll report back once I've had a chance to experiment with it.

Well done! There hasn't been much buzz that I've noticed so far, but for that price, it's not really a big deal, and all of the T-Mobile plans are cheaper than the three other main carriers, in my experience.

It's always nice to have a new toy ...

Can it be used as a modem for a laptop?

Nope. I have a nice phone, IMO, a Nokia (I just prefer their software to everyone elses), but I have no need for E-mail or internet on my cell phone, and will certainly not pay extra for it. The wifey and I pay $50/mo. for 1000 minutes (anywhere in the U.S.), and that's about it. I am going to try the Nokia PC suite at some point, just for reminders and stuff like that, since it is free.

It's still nice to see technology develop and enable new things, so Early can try them out!

    Let's see...

This phone surfs the net, gets e-mail, plays music and videos, GPS system, 3 megapixel camera with autofocus, and a host of other features. Oh yeah, it happens to be a phone, too.

    So far I'm lovin' it.

The device comes with 1 GB. I bought a 4 GB miniSD card for about $10, but I really don't need it. I suppose if you're gonna use the G1 as an MP3 player and/or store videos and pics, you'd want more memory, but for general use, it's not necessary. Besides, that stuff gobbles up battery life.

It's the same dimensions as the iPhone, except the G1 is thicker and heavier.
