Hey guy's, new here, but I have a question about my SDA SRS 2's.
I have owned them for 20 years now and they are in great shape. I have them incorporated into my home theater (all Polk speakers) and the system sounds awesome!!!!
What if anything needs to be or will need to be done to them to keep them performing perfectly?
I have read here that changing the SL2000 tweeters will make them sound a bit "softer", but to be honest, I still love the way they sound.
They are powered with a McIntosh amp.
Any comments would help.
Dan

If you're happy with the way they sound, it wouldn't hurt to leave them be. The replacement tweeter is the RD0-194, it's much smoother than the original IMO.

Just curious, which amp are you using? Up to recently, I was using a 7270 on a pair of SRS 2's and I thought it was a great match.

    Welcome to the forum.
I have SRSII's and love them more and more all the time. They are used for two channel listening only. I have done many upgrades/updates to them and upgrading the x-overs made the biggest improvement followed by replacing the 2000's with the RDO's. I did a thing I call "cost of ownership" and this is what I have in them currently.
    Paid $500.
    Tweeters $210.
    X-Over upgrade $325.
    Dynamat $20.
    Binding posts $40.
    $1,075 total
My suggestion for you depending on your budget is to do the tweeters because its a simple drop in upgrade then concentrate on the x-overs. The guys around here will assist with advice on the x-overs if needed.
    Just my thoughts

Hey guys that so much for the responses!
To answer Face's question, they are powered by a McIntosh MC2255.
How much are the RD-194's anyway? Polk stocks them?
Is the crossover upgrade needed due to deterioration in the existing crossover or to improve sound?

    Nice amp!

When you call, tell them you're a Club Polk member and the tweeters each are $48 shipped.

It's not needed, but recommened due to the parts drifting in value after 20+ years. Due to the marginal parts used, after a rebuild, they should sound even better than new.
