How to isolate rear subs from the front

I have a dilema.
I am having a bit of a change around and in the past have run rear subs of the rear channel preouts, I am now changing to running them off the sub out but I listen to music in two channel and dont want the rear subs coming on in auto mode, nor do I want to have to switch them on every time I watch a movie if I have them off.
Any ideas on how to isolate them easily?
Best I can come up with so far is having them run off the same power point and just flicking the switch when I want them on, not the best but maybe practical.
