Rti6/RTiA3 vs Monitor 4?

Not sure if this would be better on the Vintage forum but thought I'd try here first. I'm curious how current 2-way 6.5" bookshelves like the RTi/RTiA series compare to similar speakers from Polk's past like the Monitor 4. Anyone have experience with both eras and care to comment?

I'll be in the market for bookshelves on my 2-channel rig (NAD 7140, Yamaha CDC-575, Nakamichi 482Z) and wondering whether to consider vintage Polks. Currently using RTi4s with a PSW303 but these will be moving to HT duty soon. Ideally I'd like to get buy without a sub and I'm willing to do without extreme bass extension (not that I'd consider the '303 extreme by any means). I'd love LSi9s but I think they're out of my price range. Speakers must be shelf mounted in built-in bookshelves due to WAF and kids.

Thanks for your suggestions. I like the 5jr; classic Polk Monitor look with a PR, but at 19" they're too tall to stand upright in my shelves (limited to 15.5"). Would laying them on their sides mess with soundstage and imaging?

LSi7s are a consideration but like LSi9s they're hard to come by at a reasonable price in Canada. I'd probably be willing to forgo the SQ advantage of the LSi7 to get slightly better bass extension for less cost in the RTi6 or RTiA3 (at least according to the specs).
