Well, my 10 year old Sony wega is crapping out, so it's time to upgrade. The sharp 52" LC52SE94U is on the way, and my current system just won't cut it.

Speakers are first, but I do want to upgrade the reciever and dvd player as well. I've been a polk speaker user since the late 80's, but i've never had polk home speakers.

I want to run a 5.1 setup, curently I have a pioneer VSX-D711 reciever. It's not much, but it will get replaced. Fundage isn't really a problem, but I do want a good balanced setup. Sounds quality is priority, but I like allot of sound and bass.

What speakers do you all suggest? What about recievers? I see most of you are running dedicated amps instead of using the reciever, will I notice much of a differance in the majority of movies?

Thanks!

Check out the RtiA or LSi lineup for speakers. For power amps, Adcom, Sunfire, Outlaw Audio are a great start with good prices. For an all in one receiver the new SC-05/SC-07 from Pioneer Elite offering IceAmps will run your new setup no problem. And for a sub, SVS or Epik which IMHO can go lower than the new polk subs.

What size is your room? Is the long wall, or the short wall where your TV will be?

    Ben
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

The room is 13' wide x 20' deep. Slighty offset to the left because of the fire place in the right front cornor. Viewing distance is around 8', back of couch to back wall is about 8'. TV is along the short wall, and it's the only way it works out in that room.

Forgot to ask about tube amps. I'm running a US Amps tu-600 tube amp in my truck with a set of MOMO MM6 speakers, absouluty amazing sound. Though I do keep blowing tweeters.

At the moment I'm thinking I probably won't need to replace my reciever. My intentions were to run componant video from the satilite and dvd player directly to the tv, and the sound directly to the reciever. No sense really having the signals go thru another device if it doesn't have to, so I really don't need HDMI.

I'm curious as to why the LSiC series isn't listed under the "Perfect Matches for Flat TVs" section. These speakers will be primarlly for movies, but i do listen to music on this system. Would I be going wrong with these speakers for movies? I wish there was a store close to me that I could actully go and listen to them. :/

    To many choices...

As far as the receiver goes, I am VERY happy with my Denon AVR-2808CI.
