Tekken 5 for PS3

I downloaded Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection for the PS3 yesterday, and it's my first time playing any fighting game of this style (I've done lots of fps games on PC, but not much for console gaming, and certainly nothing like this before).

It's alot of fun, do have a couple questions though.

1 - There appears to be some kind of ranking or tier system. Does anyone know how many levels there are, or what that looks like for this version of the game? I have a couple characters at 1st Dan, but don't seem to be progressing past that - is that the final level?
2 - I've heard about a patch on the PS3 that opens up a practice and a Survival mode, anyone know if this is correct, and how I'd get it?

    I have been playing this too and it's a lot of fun. I did get to the end but I never did understand what all the rankings did.

    Same thing here....played it to the end but only remember winning matches and advancing .

    That was one game I was hooked on and had to beat when I got the ps3 though...when I did finish, I was pretty disappointed with the ending...pretty lame for a games ending...so you might have actually gotten to the end already.

    well I keep going up against jimpatchi and I win and it says game over and rolls credits, but then I'm able to go back in and advance more levels - I don't get it. It seems poorly developed...

    Go try the online play.....

    Whats really sad is you think you are all badassed that you have "Mastered " the game by beating it...then you notice there is now a way to play it online against other humans , so you log on and prepare to open up a big can of whoopass on some unsuspecting folks....only to have YOUR **** handed to you by a 10 year old in his pajamas with his half eaten bowl of capn crunch next to him :D

    The online play is worlds harder then just the game, I finally started kicking **** ...but you notice the difference right away.

    You need to go to the sony store ( Downloadable right from your ps3's store ) and get the update....I forgot what it cost now....5 or 10 bucks maybe ??? Been a while since I grabbed it.

    So I paid $20 for the game yesterday on the PS Store, and now have to pay another $10 for the patch?

    Usually I would **** too...but you have to admit...20 bucks is pretty cheap for a game in todays gaming market...even 30 total isnt too bad.
