I was looking into getting 3 Alpine type Rs and a Orion HCCA-D2400 for my amp. The amp is rated at 1200wrms @ 1 ohm and the alpines are rated at 500wrms. From what i hear the type R's are pretty good subs, but cant handle a lot of power. But i don't know much about Orion amps. Any suggestions or info?

I wouldnt buy an orion. Its kind of a bottom of the barrel brand. I would look at some other amps. May I ask why three subs? My friend had 2 TYpe R 12's pushed by a fosgate 1000 rms amp. He had them in a ported box and he always said that was too much bass. The sound pretty good and the fosgate pushed them well. Brands I would suggest are alpine, kicker, fosgate, polk, and memphis. I have a lot friends who have memphis audio amps and their amps do very well.

Orion used to be a powerhouse amp brand but not so much anymore. Still, Id have no problem running their stuff. Ive seen a few SPL setups in the lanes running Orion and they always seem to work pretty well. If you could get a good deal on one then Id say go for it but they wouldnt be my first choice. Look into the new Polk PA 1200.1. Im running one and its got plenty of grunt and a relatively small footprint.
The Type R subs are excellent subs. They sound pretty good and have lots of output. Ive personally never heard anyone complain that their Type R's couldnt handle much power.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
