    Hi !

What is this Dynamat ? If I apply it to my speakers, would I hear a difference ?

If I applied it to my ****, would it damper my flatulance ? I think my GF would agree to this.

Also, if I wanted to get this, where would it get it, and what else would I need to apply it to my ****, I mean my speakers ?

    Thanks all !

You should continue to apply it to your body until you look like the gimp from "Pulp Fiction".

You can find it on Amazon.com.

Actually, I am one of the few that never watched Seinfeild although I like Jerry Seinfield and I know the cast members. I could never make the transition of seeing him as a standup commedian moving to televison sitcom.

I guess another question to ask is what "improvements" should I expect when applying to the best speakers ever made - Bose -. I mean... a Polk Audio ?

    ;)

Seriously, what am I hearing now that I should not be hearing after applying the Dynamat ?

    I don't know if you are serious or not but here goes;

The stamped metal baskets on the drivers and passive radiators resonate. This resonance, especially if you have the amount of drivers I have in my speakers, presents a grunge i.e., lack of clarity and imaging. Dynamat stops the resonance thus producing better clarity and imaging. This of course was noticed as a cumulative effect of continued tweaking of my speakers.

You should also spike your speakers or stands whichever applies.

I was joking regaring Bose as the best speakers. I was only trying to get a laugh.

I am serious when I ask about what improvements should I expect. Thanks much for the detailed info. I do get great sound coming from my speakers (gotta LOVE POLK!), however, I dont think I am hearing any renosance as you mention or I cannot tell if I am hearing renosance as I am too busy appreciating the quality sound that is coming from my speakers. I have 8 drivers coming from each speaker.

Here is another serious question that you bought up - I have flat feet on my speakers. Why would one want to change over to spikes? I am one of those who does beleive "wider is better". Why would it be different in this case?

Thanks much for all your input!

I just re-read this thread from all the way back at post #1 and was reminded of my escapades with Dynamat Extreme back in November of '08.

Like NJPolker, I covered nearly 100% of the baskets of my mid drivers and passive radiators on both my SDA-2B's and SDA SRS 2's. And also like NJPolker, I took a some flak for "overkill" in another thread. :)

My thoughts were, and still are, that more is better. Many high quality drivers have very heavy cast baskets. True, a small amount of Dynamat Extreme cancels out the basket's tendency to resonate and ring, but covering as much of the basket as possible emulates the heavy mass of the cast basket varieties.

I'm happy I went overboard with the Dynamat Extreme and won't be losing any sleep at night like those of you who skimped and still wonder if you used enough. :p

Has anyone applied Dynamats to their rear channel speakers? I was thinking of doing that. And should I purchase the Dynamat or Dynamat Extreme which is significantly more? For the amount of drivers I have - 5.1 surround with SDA-SRS 1.2 TL Speakers, I have a feeling I should purchase the bulk Extreme pack.

I used Dynamat Extreme $20.00 off ebay. I did my 1.2's and 1C's and I still have a little left over.

You don't need to apply much for it to do the job. Get the Extreme regardless.

ToolForLife - nice name. How did you come about that name?
Thanks for the ebay tip. However, I think I would need to purchase the $139 version which is 36 Square Feet and comes with 9 sheets. The one you showed me is significantly less. Is that what I need?

Thanks to all the other members for their input, who are trying to steer me in the right direction!

Are you planning on lining your cabinets with it? I didn't think so. Again, you do not need to apply much for it to do it's job. A 2 inch by 3/4 inch strip on each basket spoke...that's it. Therefore, a couple of 12"x12" sheets will probably do you.

I wont be doing the sides, just the drivers and PR. I cant see using it on the tweeters. Does anyone have any recommendations to do it or not?

I also plan to use it on the drivers on the rear channel speakers.

I decided not to use it on my **** as I originally planned. I have this fear that it will make my **** look funny and I will gather attention that I do not want.
