Blew my first speaker!

It was a 6.5" woofer on a Fisher speaker that was getting 150watts into a 16hz test tone... one survived, one did not.

Made for great fun at school when we poured cornstarch+water mixture on them though.... but sticking to 40hz would have been wise.

    Blowing speakers is fun as long as you mean to... :eek: I blew a crappy pair of PA speakers once, tweeters and woofers, and enjoyed the experience very much.

    I got a pair of cheap klh speakers this summer from a rummage sale for $3. I had fun putting them to the test. Now their in the garbage.

    Running a 16hz test tone on Bookshelf speakers that did not seem to have any cutoff... yeah. I wasn't too surprised. But I'm glad I've done it to something cheap. Usually I don't break something the same way twice.

    What were you testing with the test tone?
