Now that the upgrading is over . . . I need to tighten things up with some teaking.

I know nothing about tube dampers. Can someone direct me towards what brands I should be looking or what gimmicks I should avoid?

Talk to Steve at Herbie's. He will give you the info you need. I purchased dampers from him for my ARC gear.

Thanks! I trust your judgment and his stuff was some of the first stuff I saw when making my own searches. I just bought a pair for my 6922s.

The first half of the title of this thread is very misleading. OK, it's a damn lie!

Time will tel my friend. Until then, my equipment has lasted a two weeks now!!! So, that's a good start. And, I'm taking other positive steps to tweak my system.

Does modifying my Behringer count as an upgrade or a tweak?

Yes, and from what I heard, it's a must do.

I've heard mixed reports on this. Walter from Underwood HiFi thinks the mods out there make the CS2s sound worse. Granted he is biased, but he has been more than honest with me in the past.

Of course, other owners have reported improvements in the mods, but then which one do I choose?

Right now I'm looking at these:http://www.asi-tek.com/behringer2.html.

Or, I could wait for Clayton to release his own external crossover?

Right now, I'm really impressed with the sound. I plan on waiting and listening hard. I want to become real familiar with the sound of my system, then do the modification to see how drastic the upgrade is. These speakers sound so amazing stock, I'm not sure what could be improved.

I can ask my friend who he used. But, he ended up selling the Emmies regardless, so I don't know what that says.

Clay's external x-overs, are they going to be active or passive? IMO, requiring 4 amps and a active crossover is a big turnoff for some, I'm sure he'd attract more business with a passive option.

    I vote for waiting.

IMO, there's something unnerving about taking a low cost, cut corners Behringer and spending several times more than it's worth to modify it. There's gotta be a better alternative out there or one on the horizon.

I think this is a solid plan as well. I'm listening to Neon Bible right now with a **** eatin' grin on my face. That's all I need to know I'm doing it right.

Plus, when the new XO from Clayton comes out, I can buy it for my CS2s then use it later if I ever by the CS1s.

I've heard this over and over again as a negative, but I can't imagine a better excuse to collect amps:D

The XO will be active and external.

Just heard this from Walter at Underwood HiFi:

"We are just starting to sell the Cullen mod. It is excellent. Call me to discuss as it is factory authorized by EP."

I'm gonna give him a call tomorrow and figure out what's going on. If the mod is within reason I'll do it, but anything more that say $750, just seems way too much.
