Any DirecTV users out there taking advantage of the new software upgrade that allows streaming of recorded content to PC? I've been playing around with it for few days. It's not perfect by any means, but is certainly a step in the right direction.

Here are some links to more info.

It looks like a good idea which I would like to use on my laptop, but with heavy requirements of hardware I'm can't get passed the scan screen. Got a HDCP error. :(

    Have you tried it?

I have a new laptop that I'm testing it on, and I got all green lights from it. I have read in a few forums that some guys had computers that didn't meat all the specs, but they were still able to run the software just fine.

My biggest problem right now is that the 802.11g access point that I'm streaming through is not quick enough. It causes the audio/video to stutter. I've just been too lazy to upgrade that one access point to 802.11n like the rest of my network. Once I do that I should be in pretty good shape.

Apparently my graphics card driver is not good enough. (Not the card, only the driver) I updated the latest driver from the Intel website but still no dice. Is it correct to assume that unless all of the lights are green you can not proceed?

That is the general idea. However I've seen some reports on other forums claiming that some have had a couple red lights yet were still able to use the software.

DBStalk seems to have to most info for troubleshooting purposes.

Got it downloaded and like the adviser stated it does give me problems, but it does work. Not really sure if it handy as it just allows one to see what's on their DVR but only in the home network, now if you could download video to computer for view later outside of home network that would be way Coooooooooooooooooooooooooolll :D

    My rating 1 Thumbs up.

I haven't had any issues with the functionality but personally I don't really need such a feature.

If only the UI was as fast on my DVR boxes as it is on the computer. :p

Not exactly a far run from the receiver to the computer.

Personally, I think it's code for "postponing practicality until we can find a way to charge you for the content you've already paid for" but that's just me.........

    I understand that.............

I think Tivo finally did allow you to send files to your computer, but it was so ridiculously slow that it wasn't worth the hassle........

Eventually it'll happen that way, but for a while they'll try to charge you for it

I would guess it's just a matter of time before some geek figures out how to rip the content from the DVR to the PC for later viewing or burning.

Well without that "Feature" why would someone watch a show if not on a 42" TV and say 10 grand worth in audio?
