Hi,
Looking for a vintage (70's era) quality turntable for use in the 2-ch system I'm putting together. I'm interested in something like a Marantz 6100-6300, Denon, Dual, Technics SL-1200, Pioneer PL510-540, etc. Or, let me know what you have. I'd like a table that was a quality model from the era, though, No cheap plastic! I'm not in a hurry, and am (of course) looking for a deal. If you have a table sitting unused in the attic that you'd like to get rid of, let me know! Thanks!

Try to find one locally if at all possible... packing one properly for shipment is non-trivial.
If you happen to be in Massachusetts... send me a PM; I might be able to help you out. -
you can't go wrong with a Pioneer PL-530 heavy wood base, silver, and it sounds good and looks good too.
I'm with you bro.. no plastic turntables for me either.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Craigslists usually has some vintage tables and sometimes for a great price. There are almost always the cheaper plastic tables everyday for $ 20 or less to get you spinnin' while you look.
ScottI like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D -
Agreed, MillerLiteScott. Craigslist has many deals on turntables.

Thanks for the plug Jeff but I don't have anything now I wasn't going to Ebay off except an old AR-XA, and maybe my old Technics SL-D2 I've kept around to play. The old Technics lost the cueing arm 6 or 7 years ago and it sounds so good I doubt I could get any where near what I'd have to have for it. It sounds too good to give it away for $30-$35 bucks as it is. The AR-XA are a killer sounding completely manual table most people don't like because it is fully manual. To get the most out of them they should have new wires run through the tone arm as they are prone to a slight background hum if you don't. The wires are good but have always been prone to interference from lighting and phones. Mine seems to be sensitive to the crt monitor also. It's very picky about placement.Jeff Beaird wrote: »Get ahold of Harry (HB27) he has a bunch of TT's...

The SL-D2 isn't a bad tt at all, but it's mostly plastic, too. :-)
The AR-XA has a lot of potential; a classic and useable even 'as is' if they're in good condition. If folks like the suspended subchassis model (as the AR tt is), the Philips GA-212 or 312 is a classic, inexpensive choice. Next stop up the ladder, of course, would be a Thorens. -
I bought a minty used Thorens TD-280 Mk II which ought to do the job for now. Thanks for all the offers!
