Janis Joplin, Essentials CD

I'm amazed at how good this CD sounds. Great drive, and some real dynamics. There are many spots where the mic overloads etc, but it's so worth it. It's been many years since I've purchased music from that era because I imagined that I'd only play it a few times, having heard it growing up so many times. Idiot.
The search for new music, becomes a search for old music.
Could be reason enough to add a truntable.

I don't know. While I understand what you are saying, personally, I burnt out on Classic Rock after hearing the same song 10,000 times, or more. Of course, if this music is new to you then by all means devour it. I suspect in the future the 60s, and early 70s, are going to be considered an historically important period for music. Just ask Bill and Ted.
My search for new music has led me into Classical (the Mozart type classical, not the rock type classical), and I have been spending 1000s of dollars buying up classical CDs and SACDs.
Of course, there are times when I do feel like hearing a Classic Rock song for the 10,001 time, but it does happen much less frequently now.
Also, there is never any reason to go back to 19th century technology to listen to music. :rolleyes:Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Interesting, when I bought my first system I had a classical phase...bought all the CDs I could afford then I grew out of it and moved on. Now I realize that I'm just 'phaseless' I listen to almost 'everything'. Eclectic doesn't even begin to cover it. And hey, I just bought a copy of Let it Bleed by the Stones and have had it on repeat for a few days! Even though I heard it a thousand times in my teen years.

Yes. I have some Reggae and Blues on order from Mapleshade. I probably will start filling in my Blues collecton, and maybe get some more Reggae since I used to like it in the 80s, but grew away from it. Uintil then, remember, "We all need someone we can bleed on...."Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
