Wit the the LSiFX(2) as the rear surrounds and the LSiC center channel. Would the VM30's be a suitable pair for the front surrounds?? Are they timbre matched??

I don't know if VM series and LS series are timbre matched, but I am sure that LS series are timbre matched whether they are floorstanding or bookshelve speakers. So you may want to consider buying LSi9, if money is an issue. Otherwise, LSi15 or LSi25, of course, would go very well with LSiFX and LSiC. The difference between LSi15 or LSi25 and LSi9 is that they have more bass with the help of their subwoofers, even though you would need a separate subwoofer, especially for LSi9, to make up for the shortcomings in the bass sound anyway.

Haven't heard the VM speakers, but I doubt they sound anything like the LSis.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

if you have the center and f/x surrounds in the LSI line, then get something LSi up front........the VM's have a different driver/tweeter so the sound won't be smooth at all.......

What are front surrounds?....you mean mains or front L & R?

No, they would not be timbre matched and a bad idea. Why not pick up some LSi7 or LSi9? Is it an aesthetics issue?
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Ideally I would like a couple of big floorstanders up front, but with a small room I just didnt want to be blown away.

You should ALWAYS want to be blown away.......lol....

I don't think you're really gaining anything footprint-wise if you go LSi9's with stands over LSi15's, but either of those would be what you want to go with. The 7's are good, but leave a little to be desired in their range limitations.....
