CSI5 Placement question

So I've got some fairly low couches that Ive got the base of my RTIs on a shelf 28 inches above the ground. I have an entertainment center that the only place to put my center channel would be maybe 6.5 ft above the ground. If I place the center channel up there I would have to tilt it downward. Would this mess up my imaging? I really don't have a place to put it below the TV

I guess it has to go up there.

Just give me any info about center channel placement height concerns.

thanks!

If ever you need to do something weird, take the time to tweak it.
Try pointing it more down, more up, instead of straight towards you to help with imaging.

p.s. 6.5 feet? Higher than a full grown man? That is pretty high.

I had mine up that high before. Before I changed stuff around. It'll work, but some may find it distracting that dialog is coming from so high up if its noticed at all.
For some, just knowing the speaker is up there in all its glory might be a distraction.
I don't recall if I found it distracting as far as the imaging went, but definately knowing it was up there was bothering me a bit.

Just try it. Its the reason that Polk put that angle on it, to allow for angling up or down. Actually I used the little foot thing to angle it even more for my original setup.

If your RTis are already higher than normal, then your front stage probably won't be affected with respect to the mains and center to each other.

It can't be too bad, some have considered in-ceiling Center channels.

    Which RTi's?

This is where my center (CSiA6) is now. Before I replaced the TV and moved the center shelf down a notch, it was actually all the way on top.

Sounds seamless where it is now.
If this didn't work out I was going to build a shelf for the TV to sit on and put the center below the TV.

Wow, I actually didn't read my post and just realize how awful my first sentence was. What I meant to say is my couches are low and the tweeters of my RTI-6s are at ear level with their base 28 inches up. Here is how mine looks.. and the center channel is going up. I could adjust it but I'd like to just put it on top if it works. I guess we will see. I was mistaken also, I just measured and my shelf is 5 ft 7 inches up. I wasnt home when I typed this and I just threw a number out there.. which is odd because I am 5 ft 7 and it never made an impression that its the same height as me.

Also, I've got some R50s in the back.. They go for 65 dollars on frys. Should I move them to the front and put my RTI-6s above them like you have and get a 2nd pair for in back.. or would this just do a number on the quality of sound my fronts give?

Just ignore the Lsi9's on top of the RTi12's. In that pic (from April) I had just gotten the LSi's and hadn't setup a dedicated 2 channel rig yet so I was manually switching the speaker wires between the two sets. They were never run at the same time (Lsi's are 4 ohm and the RTi's are 8 ohm).
No way to make room below the TV there? I'm having a hard time seeing if there is somethgin there or not. You could put a small shelf there and put the center on it.

I suppose under the tv is the most obvious choice but right now I've got my receiver, turntable, and PS3 sitting beneath it.. I'll figure out something.

You could put in on top of the shelving and just angle it down. It would be the easiest fix until you want to mount it under the TV.
