Below are some pics I found from the up and coming movie by Mel Gibson. A movie that will mainly focus on the last 12 hours of Christ's life. According to Mel it will be a very accurate recount according to the Bible. It is being filmed in Latin and Aramaic with no subtitles planned. He said he wants the visuals to tell the story.

Mel Gibson under attack
for Jesus film?
Actor-director believes enemies are trying to discredit him

Actor-director Mel Gibson said tonight he's under attack for making a realistic movie about the suffering, sacrificial death of Jesus.

On Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor," Gibson said a reporter was dispatched by a "reputable" but unnamed publication to "dig up dirt" on him.

"Whenever you take up a subject like this it does bring out a lot of enemies," he said. His private life, his banking records, charities he supports, friends, business associates and family members have all undergone scrutiny in this investigation, he said.

Asked if he believed there was a direct correlation between this investigation and his work on "The Passion," a film he is making in Aramaic and Latin for authenticity, Gibson said: "I think there is."

"I'm a big boy," said Gibson. "I can take care of myself, but when you start messing around with my 85-year-old father, watch out."

Even though Gibson was angry about what he considers harassment of his friends and family and prying into his personal life, he said he has already forgiven the reporter and those behind him.

"This is a movie about love, faith, hope and forgiveness," Gibson said. "He died for all mankind. He (Jesus) suffered for all of us. It's time to get back to that basic message. The world has gone nuts. We could all use a little more love, faith, hope and forgiveness."

This could very well become my most anticapated movie to see for this year. It looks incredible.

I think it was a smart move to make this movie in Latin/Aramaic for authenticity, but stupid to not include subtitles. It could have been made like Das Boot when it was released in theaters in German with subtitles. And I hear the DVD for The Passion will not contain subtitles either - that sucks - I think if you have dialogue in a different language (especially for an ENTIRE film and a film like this of such importance), you need subtitles. One exception I can think of is Quest for Fire. Besides, one could always opt (on the DVD) to watch the movie in the true language w/o subtitles, if desired, just like Das Boot.

In the important parts, Castaway didn't have music. It conveyed the message quite clearly. This is a much bigger step in that direction, I believe. While it would be convenient to have subtitles, I don't think you'll need them to get this message.

If you're hung up on the details...and can't absorb the art of the piece for what it is..then I doubt this movie is for you. Wait till someone translates it on the net.

    Worded paintings don't have subtitles.

There is talk of adding sub-titles. I hope Mel does not, at least for the theaterical presentation, for the DVD fine. But, if his intention was that the visuals tell the story, sub-titles are not needed.

I'm not saying I won't enjoy the movie. I'm still very much looking forward to seeing it. And, if the story can be followed easily without subtitles, then fine, I think that would be quite an accomplishment on Gibson's part. I just hope he pulls it off.
