    check the shoponkyo.com....they periodically have refurbs for about $500...also amazon has them for 600ish new..seems like the refurbs from onkyo have a better chance of the buyer getting firmware 1.08, which saves the hassle of updating the 805 since it does not have an ethernet port...basically the newer firmware increases the audio lock out speed when changing channels

    i myself have an 805 with 1.04 firmware which i am very happy with

    lip sync seems to be the biggest complaint, but i have had it for a year and for me its not very noticeable

    this receiver produces some heat so be sure to keep it in a well ventilated area, but in my case i have it in a rack with about 3 inches of free space on top and its open to ventilation on the right side...after a year NO PROBLEMS at all and i run mine about 10-12hrs daily

    there seems to be a slight failure rate with DOA units, so i'd stay with an authorized dealer for warranty reasons
