In 1981 when I was speaker shopping I was shown a pair of unusual speakers that were too big and too expensive for me, but I remember that they were of an unusual design and sounded really good. The overall shape was a slender pyramid, about four or five feet high. They were three-way, with each driver oriented vertically. The woofer pointed down and the bass came out at the floor. The midrange driver, above the woofer, pointed up and it's sound was deflected out into the room (in all directions) by a sort of curved cone pointed down into the mouth of the driver. The tweeter was a dome type, located on top, radiating up and to all sides. They were meant to be placed well out into the room. I can hardly believe my memory, but I think they were made by Bic, the French company known for pens, lighters and shavers.

Does anybody remember these?
