I'm looking for opinions on this amp. I can trade a vintage piece I have for this amp and a Carver C-2. The piece I would trade is a Kenwood Tuner KT-8300. Is this equitable? How much would the amp go for on it's own? Anyone with experience with this amp please let me know. Thanks.

    PM2.0t
    465 X 2 @ 8 ohms
    600 X 2 @ 4 ohms
    450 X 2 @ 4 ohms
    1000 X mono @ 4 ohms
    XLR and TRS Type inputs
    fan speed selector.
C-2 pre is a nice pre.

What is the Kenwood's asking price?

Lots of power in the PM 2.0t. Question is will you hear the fan?

The Carver pro amps are dang near bullet proof. If you're going to use it in a travelling rig, it would be excellent. For home use, the PM amps sound good, but not as warm or crisp as the Carver home line. As engtaz mentioned, they do have fans that are not dead silent. It would make an excellent subwoofer amp though with the power it produces.

Tough to say. Your Kenwood is a classic and I would not put most gear made by Carver in the same category (some I would); especially when it comes to reliability. Definitely check the unit first for hum; all three of mine developed this problem.

As long as there is no hum if it was me I would likely seriously consider the deal simply because I like playing with different amp’s and pre’s and find that vintage tuners are almost a dime a dozen these days; with your Kenwood being a bit if an exception to that.

It’s a touch call. With vintage Carver gear I always suggest treading lightly.
