A couple of months ago a web site "improvement" took away the ability to edit posts after about 5 minutes. That totally sucks.

This subject was discussed at Polk HQ on Friday and hopefully this major inconvinence will be addressed shortly.

Any way to have it set under Vbulletin to only edit the first post 9from the original author) and not follow up posts after a 20 minute period?

I am guessing he is suggesting letting the OP edit his posts in the thread as much as he wants to. Everyone else in the thread has about 20min.

This would let the OP post updates (prices, pictures, whatever) when he can - It would also allow them to actually use the "placeholders" many use after the first post labled "reserved for follow up" and everyone else in the thread will have to be good. (well after 20 min anyway)

Make more sense? (I actually have thought that would be a better idea than the current one as well)

The best idea, IMO, is to go back the way it was. I rarely edit to "get rid of" anything I say, but sometimes I like to make things more clear or add things or correct grammar/spelling, etc. If I reread my own post later and there is an error in grammar or spelling or punctuation it irks me a bit that I can't fix it. Call me a little anal retentive about that. :)

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. I can't say I have been on a forum that hasn't allowed you to edit your own posts, OP or not. So either way would be fine IMHO towards editing your own posts at any time, or having the thread author have edit abilities (no time limit) while others have a specified time limit. Sorry I wasn't clear on my first post. Had I been able to edit it now, I would have added more details :p

Where it gets annoying, and bloating for the back-end is when you have to post new reply's to your own thread to add pictures, or new content, or to show that you have changed your previous content even though you can't edit it.
