If you like survival horror games, this one is an absolute must. Also if you want to be completed immersed by the auditory experience, it will certainly get the job done as well.

I'm tempted to buy this... but with Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World at War coming in the next 5 weeks, my game budget's running thin! And after playing the demo of Tom Clancy's Endwar, I kinda' want that too.

How does Dead Space hold up on your Z2000? I'm running the same projector (with some ISF calibrated settings from AVS that are freakin' amazing), and since the game looks so dark, I was wondering how well it holds up on your projector.
    Equipment list:
    Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
    Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
    Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
    DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
    Epson 8500UB 1080p projector
Elite Screens Sable 120" CineWhite screen

    +1.

They did an amazing job with the surround effects. Its creepy as hell, even in broad daylight. I dare not try it during night unless I want to stain my couch.

Fortunately I have a few friends at EA and this title was actually developed at their campus here in Redwood Shores so one of them got the game new for $20 for me. (Although I would have easily paid the full admission price as well.) This games is easily one of their best original IPs.

Dead Space looks fantastic on the Z2000, I can easily see everything. I have actually been playing most of the game on my bedroom TV when I am playing by myself because it is a little "much" on the system downstairs, alone and in the dark. hahaha

The surround effects really are fantastic, such a great sense of space and great imaging.

+11111 on the Audio. AMAZING. Best Game Audio I have heard yet... Like BioShock in quality but turn the effects up to 11.

Also, do not overlook this just because it wasn't over hyped or is a new IP.... game quality is AAA. Best new franchise I have played this year easily.

what makes this game soo good is that its just not a "shooter", the task you have to complete before completing missions are quite unique

So I hooked it up in my bedroom on a 42" panasonic plasma and I'm going to set up a 5.1 system with RTi6s, RTi4's a CSi5 and an SVS PB12 plus.

I plugged it in and hooked up 1 controller via usb. Do the new controllers need to charge like this for long?

I snagged this game at Target's Black Friday price of $30. It was too good to resist after playing the short demo they put up on the 360.

Definitely the best use of surround sound of any game I've ever played. The dynamic musical cues and effects make this one hell of a game to play in the dark with the 7.1 cranked up. We talk about "demo material" with movies that have great sound... but this is the gaming equivalent of that. Not only does it have great rear soundstage usage, the bass in some segments put a smile on my face and put my SVS/Buttkicker combo to work.

No game has made me feel so genuinely unsettled like this since Clive Barker's Undying on the PC. EA hit it out of the freakin' park with this one.

Seriously, anyone that has a surround system and a 360 should at the very least rent this game and see how immersive a video game experience can be.

GREAT Game. I rented it and beat it in 4 days but not playing constantly. THere are times where it kind of gives you a scare. I like the whole concept and the huge mini bosses. Lots of fun! And there were times I just ran out of ammo. Best gun ever is the plasma cutter updated to the max!

I tried to pick it up at Target last week and got shot down. If anyone want's to sell their PS3 version, shoot me a PM. We should get some game pass-around type thing going. I know we did it with speaker cables a while back... Maybe that ended in tears, dunno.

Yeah... I'm a little late on this one, but why the hell didn't you guys warn me? I can't even play this game with the lights on without pissin' myself. I haven't been this close to a heart attack since Resident Evil 2 first came out.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Finally bought this game yesterday and fired it up tonight and man this could very well be the best video game ever! Ive only made it to Chapter 2 but the story line is very good, the graphics are outstanding, its creepy as hell, the sound FX are off the charts and the weapons so far are cool. The only thing I can really find to **** about is the looking over the shoulder of the dude. I wish he were centered a little more but I am getting used to it.

MacLeod, you get used to the camera. It was kinda' necessary for them to do all the menus and interface in-game, which I LOVED. But seriously... Dead Space has the best surround sound of any game I've ever played, and was scary in the way I wished that Resident Evil 5 had been. I honestly want to buy it again now that I've upgraded to a 9.1 setup, 'cause I bet that sounds insane!
