I started writing up a long post describing these pics, but I pressed the infamous "button" and it all went into white space.

If the pics of the prototype monstrosity are too revealing, I will take them down post-haste.

I have received a lot of benefits from attending Polkfest 2008 such as:

    1. Collector's items to sell on eBay at a handsome profit.
    2. Knife throwing tips.
    3. A demo of next generation SDA's.

    017DK-Matt-PolkFest2008-cr2r.jpg
Times are hard, but I improved my financial condition at Polkfest 2008. I was able
to persuade Matt to sign a stack of old Polk Audio ads so that I could sell them on
eBay. They sold out in one hour.

    007MattKnife-s.jpg
Matt takes aim. Someone made a smart remark about the home theater prototype sounding 10X better than the best SDA. Matt took out his throwing knife and made them take it back.

    008Sal-Matt-Signing-s.jpg
Lasareath getting his SDA SRS 1.2TL crossover plates signed by Matt. Now, when you see his 1.2TL's up for sale on eBay, you will know the signatures are authentic.;)

Full report, with pics and stimulating commentary, sometime next week.

I was absolutely not referring to the Surroundbar 360 or anything remotely similar to it. Sorry I don't have time to elaborate right now. Al Ballard (Polk's engineering VP) has invited everyone over to his house for Day Two festivities and I need to get ready and go.

An explanation, with pics, will come next week. Be patient.

    Well, that's over with!

Sorry I couldn't be there on Saturday but I had made plans with the girl to go to the PA Renaissance Faire and I also had a friend visiting from Germany leaving that night so I had prior engagements that took priority.

It was great to see everyone again and I realized that the Polkfests at Polk HQ are not really about the tours and such. They are more about getting to go see the people at Polk HQ and getting to hang out for the day!

For an electronics and engineering junky/geek like me and the friend I brought with me, getting to see all the fun toys they get to play with is just pure, unadulterated fun! A free lunch and a pile of goodies in a bag are just icing on the cake.

It was good to see some of the other rides in the bay too. Thom was very gracious and candid in his tour presentation.

I was able to snag Eric Wong and get shots of his stereo he installed on his bike. I'll post them later.

It was a real treat to meet Wes Phillips and to snag a few moments of his time! I've been reading his articles for years and he's one of the real deal class acts in audio journalism. It was nice to be able to put a face and personality with the name. Watch his columns and articles, I'm betting there is going to be a piece or two on Club Polk in an upcoming issue.

It was good to see the old faces and get a chance to chat for a few and it was good to see the new faces too. And even though Ricardo doesn't remember me, it was good to finally shake the hand of a guy I've been talking to about all kinds of stuff for years!

We had a great time and yeah, there are people who have legitimate excuses for not being there and that's fine, catch ya next time, yo. But for those of you whining about something lame, nuts to you! You're missing out and you really shouldn't be. This is the 4th or 5th time I've been to some gathering of people from this forum and while it tends to be a nerdfest sometimes these are honest people with a sincerity that comes from friendship.

I had a great time as always and I can't wait until the next one! Hell, I wish I could host my own but the time is not right.

I wasn't being a ****. We all know why you couldn't make it and there are similar folks facing hardships that prevented attendance too and we're all sorry for that and we missed ya being there. But there are those who just whined their way out of going and those are the ones that suck.

The first HQ based fest we had 40 some odd people I think it was and we had a great time. This time we were pretty damn close to 70 and we barely fit in the video conferencing room. If it grows again next time, we ain't gonna fit and that to me is awesome! So you didn't make this one, there will be others and we'll have a freaking blast at them too with booze and tubes, food and friends, and memories but sadly, no mammeries. Maybe one day, it will all be complete! ;)
