Hi all, I'm about to purchase some atriums for a new outdoor setup. I've been looking at the 45s, but I'm curious if the 55s or 60s are worth the extra scratch. This will be for an outside porch powered by a zone2 amp in my emotiva lmc-1 (soon to be xmc-1 when it comes out). But, I won't be cranking it to party levels or powering it with a separate amp. I'm mostly interested in sound quality, not volume.

Well, it looks like the builder of my new house got confused, because they put some Klipsch outdoor speakers up in the patio even though I didn't order them. So, it looks like I won't be getting Atriums for now. Anyone have any experience with the Klipsch outdoor speakers? I'm guessing they installed the AW-400s, but I haven't confirmed that, yet.

Sell the Klipsch, get the Polks. The 45's make EXCELLENT sound, I used them as rear channels in my HT for a while, and now they reside on the patio. The 55's add a little more bottom end. The series is almost bulletproof, 4 years so far through Texas summers, and they have yet to break a sweat.

    Cheers,
    Russ

    Good Atrium is....

Polk, I love you for these speakers. The swivel-bracket mount saved the freakin day.

    Thank you!

Never heard Klipsch before, but one thing that I thought might be good about these is Klipsch's efficiency. Like I said, I'd be powering these with a zone2 output off my pre/pro. But, if the Atriums are much better, maybe I can sell them for enough to upgrade to the Atrium 55s or 60s.
