Surround speakers..???
Good day fellow Gurus..
I have an OLD set of Monitor 7c's:) and with lack of mass market surround sound back then:rolleyes:, Im wondering what surround sound speakers would best match the nice sound of the monitor 7's?? (replacing Blose 301's)
I am open to other brands
I have a very modest setup as follows:
(Audio portion)
Denon AVR 1603 5.1 surround sound reciever
Def-Tec 80 powered sub.
Polk monitor 7 fronts (soon to have X-overs upgraded)
Infinity center
Bose 301 surrounds
Room: 16x20 w/ vaulted ceilings
Listen to both music and movies..
I dont want to overspend on surrounds that will not blend well with my older speakers and cost twice as much.
thank you in advance for your help...
(i wasnt sure if i should post this here or in the vintage section. I picked here because of a larger pool of people)
thank you!

Welcome to Club Polk.
Why not just get another set of 7's? Or find some mon 10's and stick them up front, with the 7's in the back? Maybe even some monitor 5's? Possibly even some SDA's, maybe the CRS+ to keep size down?
Haha as you see, there are a couple ways to go about it.
Get another pair of 7's and have both of the x-overs upgraded and you should be smiling. Not to mention your AVR shouldnt have much trouble powering them all, the 7's dont take alot to sing.
Dont forget, if ever you wanted to get into something more, you would still have some awesome speakers to build other smaller systems around. Or you could turn them over, mon 7's have a great following and wouldnt be hard to flip.
Lots of possibilities here.
DaveOnce again we meet at last. -
I have monitor 10's for mains in my basement and plan to look for monitor 5jr's for rear speaks when the time comes.
Just be sure to look for the same series as what you have so the tweeters mach.
