Anyone installed the GXR69s in a Civic?

I'm looking at putting them in the rear of a '98 Civic. Crutchfield indicates "this speaker does not fit your cars specifications", but it doesn't say why?

Trying to get an idea of why they might not fit, and what it will take to make them fit. Possibly the height of the tweeter, in which case it should be simple enough to use a hammer to beat the tweeter down a half inch or so. Or the cut outs might be different in which case I should probably buy a new car.

If anyone knows for sure, let me know.

all kidding aside, there are 3 reasons they would possibly not fit...

1- you odnt actually have 6x9 holes in back... you may have 6x8's or 5x7's or round 5's or round 6's.... check... if you do have 6x9's.. then see the next 2...

2- tweeter height, like you said, in which case you can just do a little triming and make them protrude through the grille or do a custom grille.

3- speaker depth... if the speaker is too deep from the top of hte basket to hte back of the magnet. ... if it is.... u're in **** and need to pick difft speakers, there's not really a way to get around it.. howevre u might wanna measure on your own to be sure.... remove your factory speaker and check for depth available... compare it to the spec on the GXR. crutchfield said the DX9's wouldn't fit in my doors... funny thing is.. they fit perfectly... those speaker selector menu's are often wrong.

yes many times they tell you wrong on crutchfield
they said the front speakers in my truck were 5 1/4 and theyre 6 1/2s
the best way is to measure yourself and compare it to the specs
in a lot of cars, if the speakers are on the area between the back seat and back window above the trunk
they have an unlimited amount of depth on the bottom
easy way to check is pop the trunk and look at where the speakers are and if you can see the bottom then all you gotta worry about is the top
