The last time they went, I was 15-16 years old.

I almost feel like crying.

I wasn't following baseball and I've got to say I was pretty shocked to hear this news. Hats off to them.

Go ahead, you'll feel better. This year the Cubs were in the mix, Angels, Phils, Dodgers, a new expansion team, the Rays-

    what, no Yankees?

Why? The Phillies have been in it the entire season. They were a favorite in the pre-season and even with a late season stumble, they still managed to outlast the Mets. But it was going back and forth between The Phillies and The Mets for the NL East all season long.

On top of that, the Phillies still retained the league MVP from last year, Jimmy Rollins and they have one of the candidates for league MVP this year in Ryan Howard. Plus they have one of the best closing pitchers in all of baseball with one of the best starters in all of baseball. They actually have a bullpen worth something this year and every player has been productive especially in the clinch. Most of all, unlike the 93 Phils, NO **** WILLIAMS!!!!!

The Phillies have been one of the "blessed" or "elite" this season and they deserve it. A few years ago, they were a bunch of unknowns fresh out of the minors and they have grown into a team that rivals any team out there and is now contending for the biggest baseball crown of them all.

    The Phillies are awesome!

Just wish my grandfather was still around to see this one. He would have been on cloud 9.

That makes no sense. Why would crying make me feel better? I WANT the Phillies to win the World Series.

The Rays aren't really new either. They were formed in 1995 and allowed to start minor league teams to build a talent base. They formed the pro team in 1998 and in the first few years had some impressive names run through the organization like Wade Boggs, Jose Canseco, Fred McGriff, Vinny Castilla and Greg Vaughn. They haven't always been the best team but that haven't always been the worst. But the franchise is a full 13 years old now with the major league team being about 10. BTW, Wade Boggs, as good as he was for the Red Sox and Yankees, never had his number retired but the Tamp Bay Devil Rays retired his number for him. He is the first Ray to have his number retired.

It was also in his contract that when he went to the Hall of Fame, he would have to go in as a Devil Ray - to which he pitifully agreed. Fortunately, MLB stepped in and would not allow it.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I haven't followed baseball as closely as I used to for the past several years. Last I followed it the Phillies... well, let's just say they weren't doing very good.

**** Williams aka "Wild Thing" threw a bunch of wild pitches to Joe Carter who was one guy you don't rack up a full count on, maybe it was 2-2. Anyway, Carter snagged the ONLY good pitch **** Williams threw and belted it out of the park in Toronto with 2 men on and ****, with one throw, blew a 6-5 lead in the game when Toronto was up 3-1 in the series.

He blew a game earlier in the series too and people were actually sending him death threats for killing the game.

Now he is a part time host on 610 WIP AM in Philly and is a regular on Comcast SportsNet as a post-game analyst of Phillies games. He also still owns a bowling alley outside of Philly and has his own brand of salsa "Wild Thing Southpaw Salsa". It sucks.

He lives in the area too. Last I heard he was in Medford, NJ, near John Kruk who is actually liked in the area.

I honestly can't believe that **** Williams actually shows his face around here. If there is one thing Philly fans don't do is forget. Even if the Phils go and win it all, they will never forget about the day **** Williams threw it all away.

What makes this ever sweeter for the Phillies & there fans is that this team has been nurthered thru there farm system. Imagine that, they actually develoded there own nucleus of talent. Kudos to them for not just spending insane amounts of money thinking they can "buy" the World Series like some owners we know!

Rays are going down. I'm looking foward to Boston.

Have you even been watching? Rays EMBARRASSD the Sox at Fenway last 2 games and only need to win one more (Tonight) to goto the Series. Just like the season with the Bucs, and the Lightning everything clicked and were clutch and went ATW. Bottom line Rays have tons of young talent and each player has a strong point and they all compliment each other when you boil it down.

    GO RAYS
