I was wondering if I can use the Monitor 50 as the rear speakers of my surround system? Has anybody ever done this before? What does it sound like? Would you rather use Monitor 40? As of right now I have Monitor 70 for my fronts, CS2 for my center, and a pair of Monitor 40 for the rear. I'm moving onto a 7.1 setup and am looking for an extra pair that why I'm asking if the Monitor 50 would be a good move. I'd appreciate all help. Thanks

I started out with R50s as fronts, but when I upgraded my fronts to Rti 10s I moved the 50s to the rear. For me it was a cheap and convenient. However, the problem is placement as most people want the rears to be above the ear. I don't think I would buy monitor 50s for that purpose. However, if you have them "sitting around" then that is a different story.MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370

I've got Monitor 50s as rears currently. I replaced the feet with rubber pads and they are on a 30 inch shelf. They do the job. I am waiting for the RTi4s I bought on ebay to arrive to replace them. I had Monitor 40s back there previously, and I personally think the 50s do a better job.
