SDA-1 worth the asking price?!?!?

My name is Nate and I have a speaker buying problem...

Are these worth the asking price of 300?

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ele/877606158.html

I like the golden grill and dusty x-over cover, no interconnect though.

Would I even need an interconnect if powered by my Carver TFM-35?
Should I try to talk em down or just say hurray! because they are at 300?

Anyway, thanks for the knowledge.

I would wait for something better. Now $200 I would go for it. Hopefully a Carver guy can give some help with your amps compatibility.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

The Carver will work fine with SDAs with or w/o the cable. It's common ground.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B

What is the purpose for the interconnect cable then if many amps work without it?
Thanks for the help and for talking me out of it:)
I emailed the dude last night and have not heard from dude yet; must not want to sell too badly...
Don't know if I should start a new thread but, what makes the others a better choice? X-overs, tweets, design? I am new to the 'vintage' Polk stuff and have not researched them too much.
    Thanks again.
    Nate.

the later designed SDA's were built to sound better overall. the 1C's being the last version of the SDA 1's, are more preferred over the SDA 1's. Same goes for the SDA 2's. The SDA 2B's preferred by people even over the SDA 2A's, even though there isn't much difference.

The interconnect cable activates the stereo dimensional array speaker (driver) in each cabinet giving you a very wide soundstage and depth to music. The SDA speakers works perfectly fine without the cable.. but to get the most from them you need to have the cable between the speakers.

Spending time at work now researching...

Looking at the older product outlines in the support page, are the 1.2tl's the creme de la creme of the SDA line? Are the SDA-SRS's the same line as the 1.2, 3.1 etc making the SDA-SRS the best?

Anywho, thanks for the extra info. I'll be keeping a look out for a beastly pair. I'll also check in here first making sure they are great:p :D

    Oldest to newest
    SDA SRS
    1.2
    1.2tl

The last rev of SDAs (1.2tl,2.3tl,3.1tl) came out concurrently with the 1Cs, 2Bs and CRS+ in the late 80s to 91 I believe.

That is the info I was looking for. I would assume the 2.3 and 3.1 follow the same development patterns.

Were the improvements mainly in tweeter/woofer construction or overall cabinent performance?

Why doesn't Polk make these bad boys anymore, just kidding;)

Also, are the modifications and maintenance spoken of in the DIY sec. easy for an electrical newbie like me? I like to take stuff apart, but putting electrical back together is a bit intimidating.

Improvements were made along the way with cabinet, driver, crossover and the TL tweeter in the SRS line. Same with the lower models (except the tweeter). There's a sticky on why no more SDAs around somewhere ;). Guys are re-doing the crossovers and replacing the tweeters all the time...lots of threads. I've done the tweets, but not the crossovers, yet.
