I assume the change is fairly easy, involving just unscrewing the older ones and soldering the new ones and **** them in ?

It's a drop in replacement, no soldering required, just disconnect/reconnect the wire via the existing connectors.

Hey, thanks Ron. I am in Fremont, CA. Do we have a local SDA meet sometime ? :) What are you using to drive your speakers ?

Welcome to the SDA club. There are a few of us around here, trubluluc, fredv, shadowofnight, Polk65 and a couple more that I can't recall off the top of my head. I'm using a Luxman M-117 on my 1Cs and a Carver TFM35 on my 2Bs in a combo low rent 2channel, but quite astounding HT configuration ;).
Also, does anybody have experience with modifying the cross-overs ? Soem of those 25 year old capacitors could possibly be improved by replacement.

I think John (shadowofnight) is the only one thats upgraded his crossovers locally. The rest of us are too lazy or electrically challenged. But, tons of folks have done them and posted the details here. NJPolker and avguytx have done the SRS2s recently.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE
