I am re-re-employed...........

So I was offered, and have accepted, a position today with a company that will have me traveling all over the US and Canada, UK, Germany, Ireland, Australia, and I think China at some point. I'll be working with call centers with the goal of helping them save lives......when I first found out what they did I have to say I was pretty impressed.....not something that I can honestly say I've been with some of the companies I've worked for in the past.
About 7 months ago I had interviewed with this company (A) and it came down to me and one other person. They altered the position to be more of a network admin position so went with the other guy........sad......(over it).
I then got a call from a company (B) that hired me to train and support users on a new wireless inventory control application/device and I've been traveling like a crazy man for the past 6 months. The job was a contract job that was supposed to be going through the end of 2009 and possibly into 2010. Two months in, our upper management shared with us that the project had been put up for re-bid by the client because our upper management wasn't responsive on some issues and another company won the contract (obviously not their spin on it, but that was the problem), but all of us in the field were to be kept. Long story short, in the few weeks approaching the end of our upper management's 'control period' our company negotiated us all out of a job because they wanted more money from the other company for using us......(thank you for sticking to your guns and talking them out of keeping us, morons).
Well, about 2 months ago I got a random email from company A that they were wanting to meet with me again to see what I was up to etc., so I met with them when I was in town to find out that they were re-creating another position and the President of the company was "hoping I was still available" and told me that they "weren't wanting to make the same mistake again" in not hiring me. Apparently they're having issues with the guy they hired and the President told me "My life would be so much easier if I had just hired you in the first place." Bargining advantage = Brett.........lol
For the past 2 weeks I haven't been working (our involvement with that project came to an end) but I had to negotiate everything based on company A thinking I was still with B.......fun times......lol. Unfortunately the pay is less than what I was making with company B (granted, I was being paid way too much for what the job was), but the growth potential is there, it's a permanent position, I'll be traveling internationally (fun for now, but I'm sure eventually tiring like all other travel), and I'll be reporting directly to the CIO. That alone is cool to me in that with Albertsons, I reported to the 126,847th (+/- 2 or 3) **** manager and getting anything changed was nearly impossible.
So I will start on the 27th and I'm sure will be racking up frequent flier miles at a crazy pace.........fun times.....

Good luck to you.
REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all -

Cool beans! It's nice when some recognizes your talents and sees how well you can/will fit in to an organization...even if they didn't jump on the bandwagon until a few blocks up the road. Better late than never. Good luck with it!
Are they giving you all kinds of cool stuff like Crackberrys and cellular modems/air cards?Expert Moron Extraordinaire
You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you! -
Probably crackberry, but not sure. I'm sure the first few months of training will be traveling to the non-exotic places around the states, but it'll be cool regardless. I would have liked them to up their offer by a bit more, but I figure with the growth of the position I should be back to that in short order.........comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

Unfortunately, no.........
The job i had was paying me for travel time, OT and it was everything over 40 was OT (even travel kicked into OT)......
These guys did come up over 15% from their orig offer, so I can't really complain (when a lot of people are getting offers for less). I was (keyword WAS) in a great position with that company, but the project ended (due to their idiocy), and they had projects "in the pipeline" which doesn't mean squat to me.......I shouldn't have been making the money I was making for what that job was, and I recognize that which is why I banked most of that pay for the 6 months.
I have more upward potential with this company..........that combined with reporting directly to the CIO was a big appeal........comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
